steel beams first sanded with a sanding drum in a dremel tool. Dry sanded with 1500 grit paper and polished with Mother's polish.
Stuck at a crossing in a Ford Model A, watching engineer Mark "Hyce" Huber of a sidelined freight train wave to Jeff Taylor on the passing high priority passenger service.
Most people keep a car in their garage...... not my brother!
He has been renovating this steam engine ...and yes it goes on the road....bit slow though :(
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a preserved historic railway stretching for 18 miles through the heart of the North York Moors National Park, from Pickering to Whitby
Having finished building its wrecking train, Nevada Northern 93 makes a dramatic entrance into the East Ely Depot.
They had this hooked up to a log cutter and perhaps a shingle splitter? It was an interesting little spot.
OK, so the quality isn't great, but I just thought it was the funniest image. When they got to the end of the line, they moved the engine to the back of the train, but didn't turn it around. The engine actually had a coupler on the front and they pulled us in reverse. The video is even more hysterical.

I had a rummage around my brother's shed and found lots of interesting stuff.
Part of a miniature steam engine.
This was the funnest "toy" I had as a kid. This is the classic miniature Jensen steam engine with an open flame firebox. Somehow, opening the main throttle valve and watching that flywheel spin madly while spitting hot oil and water everywhere was so incredibly satisfying. This example is still in operating condition and I run it frequently using camp stove pellets.
A Southern Region 4-6-0 King Arthur class probably somewhere SW of London.
This is one of several steam engine photographs taken by my great uncle Garnet Cross, whose father was an engine driver for Southern Railway. All the photos in this set were taken around the Southern Region, post-WW2 but perhaps some before it.
I would welcome any expert advice on location the picture was taken.
