Standard 25 ton SR Brake, I believe

Under a hot summer sun, passing through green fields. 2857 on her first day in service for 16 years.

The bright steel (red) arms above the cylinders are a special linkage developed by Watt. They connect the piston shafts to the beams on the upper floor and make sure that the piston shaft travels in a vertical plane despite the end of each beam traveling in an arc.

At Beamish - ' the living museum of the North'

over 100 years old steamengine on paddle steamer Schiller

( lake lucerne switzerland ) - it is the "cockpit" of the engine .

This steamer was built in Hamilton, Ontario, used in the Crooked Creek, AB area by Claude Toews, & eventually donated to the South Peace Centennial Museum. Classified as a tandem compound engine, it carries 150 P.S.I.

i find this huge machine extremely gorgeous and apparently did also the engineers, who named the two cylinders after their wifes. at least i hope it was for the beauty and strenght of those ladies, not for their hugeness and loudness...
