On 13 November 2024, the UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand convened 59 University Presidents and their representatives under the Sustainable University Network (SUN Network) and Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT), to sign the Statement of Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand witnessed the signing ceremony and expressed support for the commitment made to enhance greening higher education and the outcomes of the Summit of the Future, as well as to promote the role of young people as active agents of change.

Emphasising the significant milestone made by 59 signatory universities across Thailand, the panel discussion on 'Universities for Tomorrow: Greening Higher Education' further noted the crucial role of universities in advancing the SDGs, partnerships for impact, along with the recognition of youth leadership in addressing sustainable development challenges.

The event was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Global Compact Network Thailand, and university-level Model UN clubs.

Artist Statement :--

I have chosen PANCH TATTVA - THE FIVE PRIMARY ELEMENTS OF NATURE as the theme for my project of designing the world bank currency. Panch-Tattva means "the five great elements of nature". The whole universe is made up of these five basic elements namely: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. In Hinduism, the human body is perceived as a combination of these five basic elements. All these elements are in each and every piece of object be it a building, a body or the whole of universe and this is the reason for selecting this theme. World Bank currency should be based on a theme which is universal.

These five elements (PANCH TATTVA) are eternal - they can neither be created, nor destroyed - they only get recycled in the cycle of life and death. Because of this eternal character, they are considered divine, and also respected as deities.

Many of these elements are considered deities and worshipped, while many others are simply recognised as very significant and thanked for blessing this world and mankind by their existence. These include trees, oceans, mountains, as well as planets that influence our world, like the Sun, the Moon, and some other planets of the solar system. Since the Panch tattva are/were worshipped in many parts of the world, I researched the fonts which resemble those places.

I took two out of the five tattva (elements) for the project. I took WATER as the theme for the note of 10 denomination and FIRE as the theme for 25 denomination note. The color palette was based on the colors resembling fire, sun, sunshine for one note and those based on the colors resembling sea water, clouds, rain for the other note.

I chose TATTVA as the name of the currency which comes from the ancient sanskrit language.

Tattva means element os nature.

I have used the lines resembling sunshine in one note and as rain in another. These lines also provide unity and texture to the two notes. I have shown the earth/world in the backdrop since the currency is for the world bank and the it also provides unity in the design of the two notes.

one off antwerps/belgians/worlds most leading contemporary painters, , did a "street-work" in an alley, smak-centre-town (in that narrow street that runs behind the hilton hotel).

the idea is to see people's (read also the-man-in-the-street) reaction if they'd came across a painting of his. would people pay attention/give praise to it as much as they do in the most famous contemporary musea in the world.

we spent some time here/observed on multiple days, ... we know the answer ;-)
