A grand entrance? Kind of silly since the ornate gate can't keep out anyone. A child can crawl in.
After a day to restore body and bike, 63-mile ride from Bandon to Gold Beach. A beautiful day along the coast. Caught up with fellow cyclists that I met in Pacific City.
This is a actually a wall with lots of colorful notes. There are writings about how one define "changes" on each note.

The “Moth Series,” was inspired by moths in her backyard and the premise that recycled materials have the capacity to metamorphose into larger objects of great beauty" Previous text from: cosi.org/exhibits/hallway-exhibits
Premier David Eby has issued the following statement in response to the latest threats from the United States:
“Today, we are ordering the removal of all American beer, wine, spirits and refreshment beverages from the shelves at BCLIQUOR stores. The stores carry hundreds of types of U.S. alcohol that the BC Liquor Distribution Branch will also no longer be purchasing.
“We are taking this action in response to escalating threats from south of the border. Most recently, U.S. President Donald Trump made new threats against Canada’s dairy and lumber industries – and there are reports he has been musing about redrawing the border.

'The Hunters in the Snow' (Painting)
'Statement of intent: 'I was immediately attracted by the composition and atmosphere of this scene. Even though it is a scene of everyday life, a surrealist atmosphere pervades. I decided to focus on the hunters and their dogs. By retaining the compositional elements, I transformed the subject and the graphic aesthetic. The scene depicts rat hunters pursued by their quarry, all in a fluffy universe which resembles a dream. It's a kind of surreal allegory of the absurd.'

Washington, D.C. – Following is a statement by Christopher Shelton, president of the Communications Workers of America:(*)
All along the 860-mile journey, CWA members have been proud participants in "America's Journey for Justice,” pushing back against new attacks on the right to vote across the country.(*)
From Selma, Ala., to Washington, D.C., we’ve joined our allies and followed in the footsteps of the past generation of civil rights leaders who at great personal cost stood for the rights of all to fully participate in our nation and our democracy.(*)
Today, just as 50 years ago, we must build a movement to secure our freedom. This means freedom from want, by expanding good jobs and fair wages, and as well as our democratic freedoms, like the right to vote. That’s the only way to ensure a truly participatory democracy by and for the people.(*)
We’ll be taking that message to lawmakers on Capitol Hill, who must declare which side they’re on: the side of justice and democracy for all or the extremists who continue to assault our democracy.(*)
CWA is proud to stand with the NAACP and all our partners in the Democracy Initiative who are part of the Journey for Justice. Only by joining together as we’re doing today, can we create a society and a community where everyone has an equal voice and an equal chance.
Dr. Jatinder Baidwan, chief coroner, has released the following statement regarding the decision to direct an inquest into the events that occurred in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10, 2026:
“On the afternoon of Feb. 10, 2026, an entire community was forever changed and multiple families who call Tumbler Ridge home received the catastrophic news that their loved ones had lost their lives.
“The news that an individual had killed two adults and six children in a private residence and a local secondary school quickly spread across national and international media. With that, came passionate public discussions about mental health and possible gaps in support systems.
“It is with this in mind that I have reflected on the BC Coroners Service’s responsibility to reinforce confidence in the system and support public safety in British Columbia when it comes to all sudden, unnatural and unexpected deaths, and all children’s deaths.
“That is why, pursuant to Section 18 of the Coroners Act, I am directing a coroner’s inquest to publicly review the circumstances that led to nine individuals losing their lives in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10.
“An inquest will provide an independent and transparent forum to publicly examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, assess systemic and procedural issues, and make evidence-based recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future. Importantly, it will involve the participation of the people in British Columbia through a jury of five to seven people.
“My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. The grief they are experiencing at this time is unimaginable. The BC Coroners Service will continue to work with the families and the community of Tumbler Ridge to make sure their needs are met and their questions answered.
“An announcement with more details about the timing of the inquest will be provided once our investigative phase is concluded.”

The second of two giant(ish) redwoods that we came to see at Elvaston Castle Country Park. A bit of research told us that in the UK, none is older than 173 years, since that was when the first seeds and seedlings were brought to these here shores.
Elvaston estate is also notable for its collection of huge Monkey Puzzle trees, including those on the avenue here. I had never seen them so tall.
