ARTIST STATEMENT — MelOrchid
Title: "Tender Offer"
The body is the final transaction.
He rises not because he chose to, but because he was always rising—through floors, through ranks, through the glass ceiling that turned out to be a membrane. The bronze figures are not captors; they are what he has always been becoming. The men below will wait their turn.
Every market requires liquidity. Every inventory requires replenishment.
Note-Grids are a tool for collecting and connecting objects of thought (in this case, words).
They treat words and other manifestations of thought as objects that can be freely manipulated to create new meaning.
They break meaning up into individual words to facilitate a more fluid, intuitive, and improvisational approach to knowledge production.

Hey everyone! Such magic to be found and treasured in the bogs, the wetlands, the marshes and riverfronts...I hope the upcoming weekend takes you to beautiful places! : )

Pre finish - Once stain has dried for a couple of days apply a sanding sealer. Zinsser Seal Coat Universal sanding sealer. This creates a good base for the laquer finish and brings out the deep rich color nicely. Spray version avaliable but I used the liquid with a wide paint applicator. One coat, do not over brush, watch for drips. Let dry over night, sand lightly with 320 black sand paper. Wipe with tack cloth, then with cloth dampened with denatured alcohol.

This statement is on the back of each of the cards. Brenda de Northcote. Thee artist borrows heavily from well-known portraits from European art history, predominantly Gothic and the Italian Renaissance. She personalises the borrowed portraits by superimposing the head of her bull terrier Minnie the Moocha, and the images have emerged from the unlikely marriage of her twin loves of painting and her canine muse.
