This is a view from a dirty window in my apartment stair well. Sunny days have been far and few between in Seattle and being close to the west side of town, we get magnificent light toward the evening. At this particular moment, I was walking up the stairs with A and hauling groceries up the stairs. I quickly dropped everything off before grabbing my camera, running back down and getting this image of the reflection of the clouds against the blue next to the deep scarlet curtain. I really wanted the sky above to give it the cloud reflection something to relate to. I also like how the red curtain is still visible past the cloud reflection. I think if I print this, I'll blow it up to be able to see those details.
Artists Statement
Tell us a bit about you and your ad in your artist's statement:
We live in a rushed and busy society today. Often,
people don?t manage their time right and are
pressured to get to a destination under very
limited time. However, speed limits are enforced
for many reasons. For one, they are there to
prevent accidents and fatal crashes that are more
likely to occur when one drives too fast. Worse,
there are also those who speed habitually and
recklessly for the adrenaline rush and thrill. These
people disregard safety and are not only a threat
to society, but a threat to themselves as well. In
BC, there is a shocking 8200 speed-related
collisions every year, which injures 5500 and kill
161. In fact, unsafe speed is one of the most
frequently cited contributing factors. According to
a study, reducing a mere 5% cut in speed can
reduce the number of fatal crashes by 30%! In
other words, slowing down reduces your risk of
crashing. Please drive rationally and enjoy life for
a long time! Safe Drive. Safe Life.
In my ad, I decided to combine traditional
pen-and-paper drawing and the wonderful
Photoshop. With Photoshop, it provides a
professional touch and is able to highlight my
message that the drawing displays. During the
process of creating this ad, I learned a variety of
skills and knowledge. Not only did I acquire more
awareness of the importance of safety during
driving that I could use for the rest of my life, I
also gained skills in using Photoshop to more of
my ability. So thank you ICBC for giving me this
great chance to participate in this valuable
opportunity in which I can hopefully help prevent
accidents on the road.

for a small show i just put up at CAFFE TERZETTO, (550D Gene Friend Way) in Mission Bay of jSan Francisco, CA; consist of 5 portraits, (Kyp Malone, Ralph B., Eliosmar, School Boi [Eddy], & Chinese Soldier )and a shopping cart triptych (Chupacabra, 3D cart & Oakland Gold);
Starfish and Sand is composed of vintage gold- and silver-toned chains adorned with ivory and caramel colored beads, faux pearls, starfish, star-burst medallion, and "coins."
This 21" necklace is created from recycled materials.
