Startrails
Getting better at the technique - now I just need to get out to a more picturesque setting on a cloudless night.
ISO 100, f3.5, 10 seconds, 14mm (28mm equivalent).
Time period covered: about 80 minutes. 316 exposures of 10 seconds each, with a 15 second interval - the 5 second gap (to allow vibrations from mirror movement to settle) is fortunately not very visible. Noise Reduction (otherwise known as "dark frame subtraction") switched off as that would cause too long a gap in between exposures and the trails would appear as dashes.
Software used was from www.startrails.de/html/software.html which can itself do dark frame subtraction - I remembered to keep the lens cap on for a few shots at the beginning and end of the sequence. I also remembered this time to cover the eyepiece to prevent stray light getting in.
Actually, if you look closely you can see that there are gaps - I think I'll have to try again with no pause for mirror damping (unfortunately the mirror cannot be properly locked up on my camera).
First attempt at some star trails. Had it not been so cold and had I not been on my own, I may have bothered to stand out there for a bit longer and therefore the trails would have been a bit longer! Also... the trails are a bit wibbly wobbly. Must have nudged the camera some how! ooops. Next time!

The graffiti walls in Eugene, Oregon, on a fairly clear evening, with lots, and I mean, lots of ambient light... which made this look kinda strange. The bright light trespassing on the left side is from the Amtrak Station ... I wonder if the lights across the sky above the boards are from light flare, or the mothership ???
This was made with startrails.exe, a half hour of 30 second exposures... not sure what caused the gap toward the left side of each trail... would like to try this location again if I could figure out how to make the lights go away

This was my first attempt at a star trail. As I recall the bright white 'star' in the centre of the image was Jupiter. I used the 'StarStax' software to blend about 70 images to create this picture.
On a rooftop in Iraq, set up with a mini-tripod on top of a couple sandbags. Stack of thirty 30 second exposures. There's a lot of dust in the air, and more light pollution than I would have thought
A bunch of images melded together to form one. I used the free startrails.exe.

Q: Why isn't the windmill moving?
A: As they're building this wind farm, they seem to activate them a row at a time. While this one looks complete, I guess that row isn't done yet.
Q: Hey, the stars are a bit off-center.
A: That's not a question. And, I know. Frankly I'm quite happy that the star I decided was the North Star when I started this picture actually was.
Q: What's with the little breaks in the trails?
A: This is a composite of 12 pictures that were taken for 8 minutes each. There's a little break of about 1 second after each one as my timer released the shutter and then started taking the next photo.

A: f/3.5, ISO200, 18mm (effectively 28.8mm due to 1.6 crop factor)
