A startrail image was made during the Kp 8 solar outburst in the early morning hours of April 24, 2023. The image was taken in Lancaster, PA at 40 degrees north latitude. 80 fifteen second exposures were stacked using StarStax. The photos were taken with a Canon 80D and a Canon 8-15 mm f/4L lens. (ISO 400, f/4.0)
Wanted to have straw rolls under the star trails. Pointed in direction of the Perseids. Sadly theres a lot of light pollution in that direction. The lenses were full of dew after 10 pictures of 3 minutes each.
Taken during a full moon, which was the only light that illluminated the hoodos and canyon walls in the background.
Total of 30 exposures of 3 minutes each were stacked in Pixinsight and further processed in Photoshop to expose the foreground. ISO 800 was used for each subexposure to retain dynamic range.
The night sky was beautiful and I felt perfect tranquility while I was capturing these astrophotos. At this picture I used a bit longer exposure time for representing the stars and satellites as lines.

Recorded in a starry night on the terrace of our holiday home in Tuscany. Approximately 25 shots with 5 min exposure time and then in Photoshop as layers with "lightening" together.
I took this behind my home. There are more than 200 shot, each 30" and I used photoshop and startrail plug in to combine all frames become one picture.
Lake Mead National Park, NV This is what happens to star trail photos when the night fisher-people retrun to their vehicles in the middle of your exposures.
A startrail I shot from Ship Rock last weekend. What an awesome little place. I ended up having to mask out a lot of the foreground in a few frames because of all the traffic that was driving by. Despite all the traffic I might have to revisit and shoot from the other side. ;)
407 frames over just about 2 hours.
