Startrails over Derwentwater. After a day of traveling around the Lake District shooting landscapes, I couldn't resist the temptation of doing some startrails at Derwentwater as it was quite clear! There was a small amount of cloud around and the obvious problem of light pollution from Keswick but I'm still quite please with the result.

I took eight five minute exposures and stacked the pictures using stacking software available for free for download. I set my lense to 28 mm and used 100 ISO.
tried doing some star trails shots the result is''t that bad, did this in front of our house. (80 shots, 1 hour and 20 mins) there''s a bit of glaring because I was stupid enough that i forgot to put the lens hood on.
#startrails on NYE in #kinglake. This was about 3hrs of 30 second exposures until the battery ran out! The three lines are planes flying past during the exposures. #astrophotography #longexposure

The star trails are dotted because so far I haven't been able to figure out how to disable long exposure noise reduction which seems to be automatic in this camera. In practice this resulted in a 15 second exposure approximately every 45 seconds.
First attempt at startrail photography. I'm pretty pleased with the result considering this was in my backyard with more ambient light than I would have liked. Excited to get out into some properly dark locations using this technique and let the camera go for hours. This photo was 79x30sec exposures.
had taken this back in september but removed it from flickr as i dont like it but just reuploaded to share in a talk about startrails that sheridan01 had sparked
took this with the nokia travel charger attached, obviously in too bright a location to capture stars well
My First Startrails Photo taken in Upstate New York. Comprised of (66) sixty six 30 second exposures. Stacked using Startrails software.
Milky way band was just visible this night and coupled with a waning crescent moon it made for good conditions, well for city viewing anyway!

Mein erster Startrail versuch.
Startrail obtained from 540 exposures of 20 seconds each, using Arduino to control the camera in B mode.

I attempted to catch some Cameloparalids in the early hours of the 24thMay but didn't see a single one. Not suprising really as the UK was not due to be in darkness at the peak. The resulting images did allow me to do another startrail though which is great fun! :)
A Startrails picture I composited together with 107 individual 30 second exposures. The very bright streak is Jupiter.
