I was concentrating on photographing something on the other side of this tree, and I turned around and this guy startled me because he was right in my face. Park squirrels are not afraid of anybody. They will come right up to your lap and take food from it.

Sat on my garden fence and keeping an eye on my neighbour's cat which was stalking it.
I have a confession to make and that is I feel as probably Esau felt when he sold his birthright to his brother Jacob.
I had said that I would not take any images of birds or animals in a comprising position yet my husband persuaded me that we should travelk to Surrey to the British Wildlife Centre and have a look around but take my camera just in case.
Well with huge reluctance I did and what you are about to see are images clicked at that site but I felt so uncomfortable as for me it was like shooting fish in a barrel.
There was no excitement of first locating the subject in the wild and the working out how bets to take a photograph no just stand and wait for an opportunity to try and take a shot that might prove interesting. I did my best despite the bitterly cold weather so unseasonal for mid April
I can see the attraction of the BWT for people who do not or cannot get out into the countryside to try for wild creatures and at the BWT they can actually see animals and birds that they may not see otherwise so there are benefits but not for me.
To me both animals and birds lack the lustre on fur and feather that their wild counterpart enjoy and while I am sure the keepers lavish love and attention on their charges there will always be something missing.
Well enough of all this patter here goes.
We have travelled many times to the Borders and Cumbria just to photograph these delightful animals in the wild as uploads will show but as we were at the BWT and they had a breeding programme under way we decided to have a look and these are some of the images I took.
The large enclosure i=through which visitors can walk is an eye opened I am sure for kids and adults alike who are unlikely maybe to see these animals in teh wild.
Just a squirrel really, but I was eye level with it, so couldn't resist!
Actually taken in Alaska - although you'd never know it - but I guess a squirrel is a squirrel is a squirrel...!
... I guess it is not known as birdbath any longer ... got lucky for her to stay to get a 2nd closer shot.
.....I'm guessing this little chap gets lots of breakfast cereal.....

This squirrel was on the tree outside our house. My daughter gave it some food and it got vdry trusting. I got like, 4 feet from it.
