Squirrel competing with the birds at the feeders at Richmond Nature Park. They are not too pleased as they have placed squirrel baffles on some of the feeders and so far they have not figured out a way around them.

This one was just hiding a bit of food when we caught him, do'nt know if its looking guilty or thinking " I'm going to have to move that now they know where I've put it ".
I always seem to over look squirrels when I'm out taking photos because of how common they are, The only things I've ever noticed about Red Squirrels is that they are very noisy and greedy at bird feeders.
Yesterday was no different. I was at Kents Pond looking for a leucistic Black capped chickadee. This squirrel ate just about every peanut i had spread out for the birds.....I guess they have to eat too!

You don't see many juvenile squirrels around, they are born blind and don't leave the nest until they have all of their fur. At the same time the adults loose a lot of weight after caring for their kitts and moult their winter coat, this means that both adults and juveniles are similar in size and difficult to tell apart.
