My trip up to Scotland has been as good as always but the red squirrels are very shy this year. There have been reports of a Pine Marten visiting the forest so I'm wondering if that is the reason they are more wary than usual.
I'll be out again in the morning to see if they pay me a visit. I hope so.

Thought I would post one quick photo before we took off on a little weekend jaunt. This is Erik the resident red squirrel. I caught him yesterday stretched out on the bird feeder sunning himself. Every once in a while he would lean down and snatch a sunflower seed, eat it and then go back into this pose. He stayed there for about 45 minutes while I cleaned and raked around the feeder.
This Squirrel and I spent quite a long time sitting in the sun, contemplating Nature and the World. Or, at least the squirrel was.
He is angry because my cat is in the yard below him. His scolding is not much muted by the nut in his mouth.
