The Annual Halls Mill Sorghum Squeeze festival was held on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Sweet sorghum cane grown on Paschal Road, near Halls Mill, in Bedford County, Tennessee, is squeezed for its juice on a mule-driven press which dates to the 1800’s. The juice is then reduced over a wood fire to a sweet syrup, called sorghum. The all day event is held on the old Michael Crowell (1826-1906) farm that was built long before the Civil War days. The old house is in need of direct attention but serves well, in its present state, for a look back into time. There was music, the Mid-State Cloggers, food, arts and crafts, Watkins Products for sale, a tour of the old home, old farm equipments and just about any other thing a person would want to see at this type of festival.
Mr. Mok squeezes the juice out of the ground soybeans which is what we know as soy milk.
This image is part of a photo documentary project I am working on in collaboration with the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society who provides social welfare services to the public. They will publish a book about senior citizens in Hong Kong who have interesting life stories to raise much needed funds.

The Vibration of the Moment
I'm not sure if I try to "squeeze" as much information as possible from a RAW shot can be considered too much manipulation, but as far as this image (and many more in my gallery), this is the technique I use to make sure Images transmit to the spectator the emotional state induced by the vibration of the moment. It is perceived as an emotional alteration, more or less intense. If that happens, just let it go in the scene and you live the situation, like being in another dimension.

The Wife and I went to Hocking Hills State Park this week. We had a great time. We walked our behinds off, for us. Took a BUNCH of pictures. What a beautiful place. Here are a few of the pictures.
What an amazing place to play with aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings. The differences in color just by adjusting one of the three is unreal. A good flash might help.
