Progress of works in February 2014 for the removal of the level crossing at Springvale. The bridge deck is complete and the new depressed line is being excavated and the new station is under construction, immediately to the north of the old one.

Commemorative plaque along Fourth Drive indicating site of former station. A strip of gum trees along the southern side of Fourth Drive indicates former station site and rail reserve in the area. The opening date shown is correct, although 'The Electric Railways of Victoria' states the last train ran on 11 November 1947 with overhead wiring removed in August 1951 and the line officially closed on 19 December 1951. Wikipedia lists a last 'visitors' service' on 10 December 1950 but quotes no sources.
G511 and C508 drift downgrade from Marangaroo tunnel, passing the side of Springvale Colliery, bound for Lidsdale siding. At Lidsdale, the train will load coal from Springvale Colliery bound for export at Port Kembla.

Remaining overhead structures from Springvale Cemetery Line which operated from DOWN side of Springvale Station between 1904 and 1947 (the line was officially booked out in 1951 several months after removal of the overhead). The line was removed and the 'new' Sandown Racecourse obliterated the former right of way. A short section remained for many years serving as a siding for Springvale station and for the nearby Rocla plant when it was operating.
In recent years it was booked out of use before being dismantled to allow construction for a new substation as part of the Westall upgrade project.
A not-so-old Beaurepaires car service centre, built using the tilt-up slab system, undergoing demolition on the corner of Westall Road and Osborne Avenue in August 2014. It had remained vacant for some months before demolition.
The chain was founded in 1922 by Sir Frank Beaurepaire, an Australian swimmer in the early 20th century. He went on to serve as Lord Mayor of Melbourne and in the Victorian Legislative Assembly and was a key delegate sent to London to win for Melbourne the right to host the 1956 Olympic Games. He died of a heart attack before the Games were took place.

An Airbus A400M Atlas, flying directly over Springvale. . It is possible it was returning to RAF Brize Norton from St Athan where the Special Forces Support Group is based. All Atlas transporters are based at RAF Brize Norton.
The Airbus A400M Atlas is a joint project to replace the C130 Hercules and C160 Transall as a transport aircraft. In capacity it is between the C130 and the C17, able to carry 116 troops and having a rough landing strip capability. The French took delivery of their first A400ms in 2013, the RAF in 2014. It is powered by four engines with counter rotating propellers.

The additional Myki readers installed on the DOWN platform not-so-long ago once again closed as it is once again reduced to a single entrance.

New large Bunnings Warehouse under construction between Princes Highway and Centre road, located close to the busy Springvale Junction. This site is located close to the Sandown Bunnings Warehouse, which has traded since the mid 1990's
Note that unlike older Bunnings Warehouses, this building is constructed using tilt-up concrete slabs to the full height of the building. Previously they had tilt up part was, with dark green Colorbond cladding the remainder of the way up.

This is part of the GKN administrative buildings, now on Springvale Industrial Estate. After the closure of GKN it was taken over by Torfaen County Borough Council as a training centre. The bridge span by the Half Way in Old Cwmbran used to be mounted outside this block, which was the GKN Personnel Office. It was to here I came when in the Sixth Form, for a summer job in "The Malleable" (Precision Forgings).

Originally Eagle Durasig Signals, they were replaced with LED in 2011. A number of modifications have been made over the years, including modifications of the left turn slip lanes to enable drivers to more easily see traffic from the right, and the addition of right turn lanes.
More recently bus priority signals were added and a third right turn lane from Cheltenham Road (east) to Springvale Road (north).

Parking Tickets 24 hours - 7 Days A Week! Ridiculous given that it was 7pm and none of the lights in the car park were turned on! The car park in question was the first floor car park in the Springvale Market, where the IGA is.

Looking in DOWN direction at the two drilling rigs boring holes for soldier piles which will form the northern wall of the relocated line and station.
The 盐走地炬鸡 "Walking Chicken" was a delicious salt-baked free-range chicken with a tasty firm flesh, smooth and chewy skin and strong bones. Full of tasty chicken flavour, even if the flesh is bordering on tough. The splash of 玫瑰露酒 rose wine before serving added a nice mellow flavour.
