Chicken spring rolls AUD7 - Kao Gaeng Thai, Springvale. Crisp and tasty, but not good enough for Isaac to take more than 2 bites :)

I love both of these dishes, this was some of the best banh mi I've had, the fake meat had a curry flavor. Wow. Strip mall on Nicollet near 28th.
The bananas simmered for awhile before rolling them into dough for the dessert rolls.

These businesses fight with one another to bring people in who make the better spring rolls. But what's the deal with having 4 businesses next to eachother selling the exact same thing.

the best the ultimate!! hihi I never eat other spring rolls than mine or of my mother.
My friends helped me wrap it, so we can see different styles of wrapping ;-)
I am so glad they helped me, so we made 40 Rolls in few time and were finished almost one hour ahead of planning ;-)
here they are unfried still. Filling: 75% porc meat, minced, with garlic, onions, stripes carrots, soy sauce, pepper, salt, red paprika powder, barbeque spice
The filling was made in the pan first, so the water comes out. If the filling is not precooked/prefried the rolls would burst when fried because of the wet wrap.
Sorry I have no Photo of the finished fried Roll or the cut open roll. They were so fast eaten.... ;-) no chance.
By the way, this is the chinese spring roll. (the cold version with white rice paper Banh tranh wrapping is vietnamese spring roll: Banh guoeng - take a look at here or the tutorial to make it here)
Home made spring rolls in canola oil using the recipe from FoodTV, Crash My Kitchen, "It's Not Easy Eating Greens," hosted by Corbin Tomaszeski. Recipe makes 12 spring rolls. Pretty tasty! The 3 tbsp of flour and 1 tbsp of water for the paste (i.e. "glues" in the wrapper) does not work; try 2 tbsp of water. See: www.foodtv.ca/recipes/recipedetails.aspx?dishid=7473

Banh mi and spring rolls from Saigon Deli Sandwich, International and 14th in Oakland. Total was $8.50!
Now teens get to try to make their own spring rolls, using rice paper and soaking them in water before adding a vegetable and shrimp filling.

My mothers birthday dinner in Asian restaurant The Red Sun in Blaricum. It was very nice, so I forgot nearly the first picture... of the starter: Chef's plate.. a plate filled with:

- Shanghai dumpling
- Ha kau
- Sushi inside-out
- Steamed oyster
- Sashimi (tuna and salmon)
