"Signs of Spring"
What better sign of spring is there than flowers and ducks? :)) I found these flowers at the nursery and for a bonus, I saw my first "Ring Neck" duck on the pond this week. I love his purple head! Sure signs that spring is on its way!

I`ve got my bike ready yesterday for a first ride of the year. It was worth it even though I had a 6km (3.7Miles) strong headwind on the way back.

Spring still going strong up in the Norwegian mountain range Jotunheimen.
I ventured through a couple of km's of very wet moor-land to get to this river bank. Needless to say, I was very very wet. The light faded quickly and the sunset just never happened like I had hoped for. Instead I managed to get a couple of shots like this that works great in b/w.

Location: Nedre (Lower) Leirungsdalen, Jotunheimen National Park. Near Gjende. The river is called "Leirungen".

After such a cold and snowy winter, one that felt like it would never end, I find myself so enamored with Spring and all the rebirth, beauty, and light that is all around me. The trees seemed to burst into bloom overnight and the display of blossoms against the wonderfully blue sky takes me breath away. I am content to sit in the warm sun, sipping my tea and watching the breeze dance through the trees.
First warm day in Mount Lofty Botanics and with it comes bluebells and host of other flora with beautiful colour.

A good friend, who is also learning about photography, stayed over for the weekend. Whilst we were out driving through the countryside one early evening we came across a field of wheat, dressed in Spring green as it grew and slowly ripened in the low rays of the setting sun. I stopped and pulled over, and after giving my friend a few tips about the light and possible subjects, I had a wander along the edge of the wheat field, trying different pov for my own shots. I've been wanting to capture some fields of wheat, undulating in the wind like a gentle sea for quite a while now. I've already seen great images like that by some of my contacts on flickr, unfortunately the wheat around here hasn't grown enough to produce the effect I desire but there will be plenty of opportunities to come. So, instead of capturing vast fields of wheat I went for a more intimate abstract capture. There are many reasons why Spring is my favourite season and one of them is listening to the gentle shushing, hushing sound that the wheat makes as the wind plays across it's surface, it has an almost soporific effect similar to when you're sitting on a shingle beach, listening to the sound a calm sea makes as idle waves gently break over the glistening pebbles...but, the marvellous thing about being in a wheat field is the added bonus of Spring birdsong, and when you put the wheat, wind and birds together they create a symphony of ear tingling, nature music....and let's not forget about the visual treat of the dance of dappled light over the rippling surface of wheat and, if you're really lucky, cloud shadows....hmm, now that is what I call natural therapy, can't beat it...and it doesn't cost a penny, unless you count the cost of your camera gear that gave you a reason to be there in the first place, that is! :-)

I think that in mid-May this herb - chamomile (Matricaria recutita) - attracts various interesting insects. Some of them let me photograph them as they enjoy the pollen that this little plant provides them. A small beetle and chamomile : )

Quinault Rainforest, Olympic National Forest, Washington
The mild winters and prodigious annual rainfall on the Pacific coast side of the Olympic Peninsula have produced several temperate rainforests. We are in the Quinault Valley, carved by glaciers and now filled with a lake and a riot of forest greenery. In this scene from the Quinault rainforest, the trunk of a large spruce is surrounded by moss-covered maple trees in their early spring leaves.
