It was purdy...

curious circumstance yesterday in Chicago, with low-lying fog / clouds rolling in, very slowly. it stayed like this for hours...

view large for best result, the Lightbox does not resize properly (horrible sharpening algorithm, makes sharpened images look softer) - so that means if its not displayed at its original size in the Lightbox, it does NOT look its best. One thing though, the preset Flickr sizes DO sharpen well (1024, 640, etc). The photo will also look ok in the Lightbox if your browser's window is large enough to display the Original size photo.

I will never forget your precepts,

for by them you have preserved my life.

Psalm 119:93

I was impressed that the museum did this exhibit of the band. It's not exactly what I expected of the museum, but I think they have recognized the social impact this band has had on people for the last 40 or so years. A bit of interest to the social anthropologists, I guess. It was an a nice acknowledgement of what was going to happen at their next door neighbor's venue (Soldier Field) the following week.

this is a handheld blue hour shot captured around the Burnham Harbor in the South Loop of the city...it is not a long exposure image but kept the shutter open long enough to get a blurred image of a bird that came into the frame...have a great night everyone...pls. View On Black

a nice sunset shot taken from the south loop part of the city....pls.View On Black

this is a 15 second long exposure shot of the city skyline right around the start of sunset...i achieved this look by stacking 2 filters, a 10 stop ND filter for a longer exposure setting, and a circular polarizer filter to help control the sky exposure and get an even exposure between the sky and the foreground...really liked the result of it most especially the soft silhouettes of the skyscrapers....did another frame with a lighter exposure but this one seemed to be my favorite one because of the moodiness it conveys and the somewhat feeling of quiet and desolation...pls. The Henry B. Clarke House is the oldest surviving structure within Chicago's original 1837 boundaries. It has operated as a house museum for more than 30 years. Built for Henry and Caroline Clarke in 1836, the house is a classic example of Greek Revival architecture. Over the years, the house has survived fires, belonged to a church and was physically moved twice. During the second move to its present site in the Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens at 1827 S. Indiana Ave., the house was stuck in the air for two weeks. Because of time constraints, I wasn’t available to take the tour.

one of my favorite spots around the South Loop is Burnham Harbor...one can get amazing sunset shots from this marina and some great reflection shots as the enclosed harbor makes the water quite still especially with zero winds...you can also get a teriffic view of the skyline from around here...have a good one guys...pls.
