Taken across the lake, minutes after sunset in downtown Chicago. Perfect evening for photography, while waiting for the Navy Pier fireworks.

The Willis/Sears Tower lights up as night falls on the city of Chicago

One of my favorite sections of the South Loop at Midland City Forest. Flowy, fast trail through open pine forest, great fun to fly through on a mountain bike. Would be a wet, slippery ride on this day.

This is a five shot panorama of vertical shots shot at 24 mm, f/9.

"After Hours"

The St. Charles Air Line Bridge is reflected in the Chicago river, along with Willis Tower. Taken just as dusk was fading Saturday evening 4.17.2016. My original plan was to shoot the Chicago skyline from the Museum campus, but with the Chicago Glo run going on I chose this location instead.

just another harbor scene shot last spring at the Burnham Harbor in the South Loop of Chicago...the tall buildings seen here are the same tall buildings you see on my previous posting seen at the end of the train tracks....if you look closely to the right just around the top portion of the trees, you can see Sears Tower just barely peeking thru....pls. Watching the storm roll in from the rooftop.

liked how the bare tree branches framed the glowing city skyline in this shot...just cropped it to give it that panoramic look...

I entered the station through the Polk Street entrance, accessible only by fare card. It's a hike into the main portion of the station.

Metra's Rock Island Line leads into LaSalle St Station.

One of the reasons I like to "get lost" in Chicago is that simply wandering around without a specific plan or destination typically results in surprises that I otherwise might miss. I like to move slowly, often stopping and just taking in all that is around me, and in Chicago, there's a lot to see from every angle. There are locations like this one, when I look and realize the view could be 1940 or 1950 as easily as it could be 2022. Other than the vehicles, most of the surroundings retain the look of another era. Many of the photographs from my favorite photographers were made on black-and-white film in major cities back in the 1940's and 1950's, and to be in a similar setting is very stimulating and satisfying.
