New to Wallace Arnold
The most numerous type of coach in the Souls fleet is the ex-Wallace Arnold B10M/Paramount, the company having acquired many of the E-UUB and F-DUG batches throughout the 1990s. Most are 3500s but this was a low-driver 3200 and was among the first Paramounts bought directly from their original owner in 1991. Withdrawal of this batch started a few years ago and this was one of the first to go, passing to Charlbury Travel in 2007.

New to Mackies, Alloa
Souls only had three DAF coaches and the two SB Paramounts have already been illustrated; I didn't think I had a photo of the third but here it is, cropped from a lineup photographed on my first visit in 1998. FLS 733V was taken over with the Johnsons of Rushden business in 1985, having been acquired by them in part-exchange for Bova DNV 456X sold to Mackies when just four months old. Despite being non-standard, it had a long life, being scrapped by Souls in 2002.

It was a gloomy day; nature was dimly lit and my mood followed the example. Precipitation from previous evening had turned sleet on roads and icicles everywhere else. These icicles usually remind me of Agatha Christie’s impeccable murder weapon. Today however, I strayed very close to them. And there it was… a dwarf glass-blower probably had too much to drink and nothing much to do... crazy frozen moody water! How did it learn to articulately resemble those etchings on my soul?

Spent the day at the International convention centre in Birmingham. It was a good conference, learnt a great deal and the dinner had an excellent Soul/funk band. Enjoyed the day very much.
Is it the surfing , memories off , partially , it did happen here and elsewhere , but its the location . Yes fond memories from long ago of a childhood spent into teenage and adult years visiting on holidays and weekends over many years as stated .. this place .. it becomes part of ones soul when getting older .
