I try to take a photo of this same elephant every year at the fair. He always pulls at my heart strings. He has such sad and soulful eyes. This year he seemed to be swaying back & forth in one spot alot more, like a self comforting motion...I find it remarkable, that the only thing holding him back from busting, out was a few flimsy posts with a couple of strings, which I erased in photo-shop.
Sometime back when I was driving to Whiterock Mountains to get a sunrise shot, I found this lonely tree, which looked great against the predawn colors. I got out of my car, and it was freezing. Extra time spent on this tree would be a trade off to miss the sunrise, which I didnt want to. With cold, shivering hands, I took a shot of the tree, it looked ok on the monitor and off I went. Later, when I saw it on computer, it was blurry :-(
Thats when I saw Jeff's Solarized tree. I wanted to try something like it. I did a layer duplication and solarized the new layer. Then I overlayed it with the original layer, and found this interesting effect. I saw two trees in one. I found the tree's soul :-)

A landscape is not as perceived by some, a simple set of land, plants and water, is the projection of the soul of a people on the matter. (Odysseas Elytis) The Korestia is a cluster of mountain settlements (Gavros, Upper and Lower Kraniona, Halara, Makrochori, Upper and Lower Melas, Mavrokampos, Agios Antonios) that show strong architectural and cultural interest.The residents' homes were built of crude brick, which entered into molds and dried in the sun, was made by the deep red soil of the area. The organization in all areas of daily involvement with nature was a standard for life till today. The mountain Vitsi and the Korestia at 1949 recorded in our consciousness as the place was drenched with plenty of brotherly bloodshed in the civil war. There were the toughest and most deadly battles in the modern history of the Greek nation. There also recorded the first use of napalm bomb in the world. By the end of the civil war in 1949, the area was viewed with suspicion by the winners due to the presence slavophone minorities. Residents were transferred voluntarily or involuntarily at security center of the army, and many were forced to abandon this country. The 1951 census recorded severe losses in seven settlements (-43.25%), almost twice from the entire prefecture of Kastoria, which is the first city of the country with (-27%) lost population. Today, the few remaining residents who have moved to a new settlement mainly deal with farming beans and livestock.

Hace mucho tiempo, cuando empecé por mi cuenta en el mundo de la fotografía, lo que mas me gustaba era realizar autoretratos que mostraba o los realizaba a través de como me sentía o simplemente veía en mi cabeza una imagen que me parecía bella y solo quería realizarla. Pero sin saber por que deje de hacer ese tipo de imágenes, con esta fotografía comienzo a retomar esa manera de crear imágenes que siempre fue mi favorita y la que mas me hacia feliz!
