"So take me, break me, mold me, make me into something new.
And wake me, shake me, mold me, change me, I will live for You"
My new toy arrived yesterday. I have been playing around with film this year and I am loving the new experience.
Sprout/Microgreen trays I've been considering ordering for a while. Finally ordered them and I'm glad I did. They stack quite compactly for storage, and when in use they're quite stable stacked on top of each other. Not sure I'll need 5 of them, but who knows - when gardening season ends, i might work on a plan to have a constant supply of fresh microgreens & sprouts.
My friend Johana revealed to us that she had never heard of cornmeal - let alone the dish "polenta" - before, so I filled a small bag with it for her to try.
One thing leads to another, trying to build and learn from what you have already experienced. I have definitely been in a creative hole lately and wanted to try something different. Even though this might not be the most moving drawing with light it is one of my first attempts and there will be more to come!
!!! Please NOTE: Not the title of the mural.... it's "my title"!!!
Remember this mural that I LOVED so much here in Highland Park? flickr.com/photos/webersweb/465747735/ And then it was destroyed by some moronic taggers? I was ticked off about it, for sure!
So, I'm driving down Figueroa and see this guy painting over the tagged mural (tagged to the point of not being able to see more than maybe... 40% of the mural....) I was so happy to see something new and in progress and it was sooo flippin' GREAT! I went home, got my camera, and went back to photograph it and hopefully talk to the artist.
Meet Raul Baltazar , who had a hand with the previous mural (with the help of some 6th graders). Very nice guy... and obviously very talented. So honored to meet you, Raul, and I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Since 1958, The Ackland Art Museum has been one of North Carolina’s most important cultural resources. We serve broad local, state, and national constituencies as a unit of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The Museum’s permanent collection consists of more than 21,000 works of art, featuring North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works of art on paper — drawings, prints, and photographs — as well as significant collections of European works, twentieth-century and contemporary art, and North Carolina pottery.
There is always something new to see at the Ackland!
The Ackland presents approximately 10-12 changing exhibitions a year, with more than half the Museum’s gallery space dedicated to special and traveling exhibitions. These shows feature a wide stylistic range of art, from contemporary American photography to European paintings, from video installations to early modern portraits. A portion of the Museum’s permanent collection of over 21,000 works of art is always on view.
A walk through the Ackland can be an introduction to ancient Greek vases, Eugène Delacroix, and Andy Warhol — all in the same day. Click here for a current gallery map. Come see what’s on view at the Ackland today!
At any one time, there are about 250 works of art from the Ackland’s distinguished permanent collection on view. The displays cover many eras and cultures, including most of the Museum’s collection areas: the Ancient Mediterranean, Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Occasional galleries present small selections of prints, drawings, photographs, and other light-sensitive works. You can search our online collection database and filter by works on view. Try saving your own collection of objects using the new “favorites” function!
I don't really know if this is considered "something new" but I've never done something like this before. I got a glass jar and put '2013' on it, and everytime something exciting happens, I'll write it and put it in the jar.
