A tutorial for a modern bargello block, as part of the Something New Sampler series. Blogged here: thecutelifesmiles.blogspot.com/2013/01/something-new-samp...
We have been members of our local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) or "Crop Share" for 4 years now. Each year a unique vegetable pops into our share. Sometimes I give it away to one more adventurous than I, but last week my sister-in-law encouraged me to "try it". So, here sits celeriac, my "new" veggie beside an old standby, carrots - both peeled, diced, sautéd and popped into chicken noodle soup - the old and new mingling together in perfect yumminess. :)
*Used M4H LR Preset "SoapBox" with some minor tweeks.
Today I tried a something new! An in camera multiple exposure. I metered whilst taking the first shot of the orchids to ensure the background was blown then shot the sea out the window. Taken in square format J-Peg and pretty much with the exception of a slight crop SOOC. Happy with the first attempt. And I got to use one of my old M42 lenses at the same time! (Super Paragon 135mm f2.8)
A couple years ago I set myself 15 Rules for Life. Number 7 on my list is "try new things", but I often ignore this rule. This morning I took part in a creative journaling workshop. I doubt I'll do this alone at home, but it was fun doing it with other women.
This week, learn how to set your rectangular blocks in a basketweave pattern!

I got my inspiration for the fabrics shown here: madebychrissied.blogspot.com/2013/01/a-year-long-quilt-we...
My daughter and I are learning violin together as of this year. She looks a lot better in the pictures, though. :)
Strobist info: SB-800 at camera left, TTL no adjustment through a 6 x 3 foot tall DIY diffusion panel. Two SB-600s on the floor, left and right with red gels somewhere around 1/4 power.
I just wanted to try something new.

And wake me, shake me, mold me, change me, I will live for You"
My new toy arrived yesterday. I have been playing around with film this year and I am loving the new experience.
Tried something new inspired by my atv shots. I have seen something like this done in snowboarding, but usually a fixed position with the subject being extracted from each frame and added to the master background. That is pretty hard to pull off with surfing, so here is what I did.
I really like it and I think once I try this from a fixed position it will become much easier. I also need to acquire a telephoto.

So the question is...did I cut away enough, or should I cut more? Add a green fabric in there? Thoughts?
