The Allen socket end of a rusty brake caliper slide pin(or guide pin, or guide bolt) . I think the rust and corrosion gives it a lot of character. I found it laying on the road. By it's condition it's been there a while. My hope is it dropped off the back of a mechanic's truck, and didn't drop out of the disc brake assembly of a passing vehicle! The end on outside width of the pin is 1.6cm.

ODC - 1/26/2020 - Metal in Black & white

I bought a cheap socket set for a very specific purpose, received it and realised it was completely the wrong tool for the job! It's been sat next to me for months and I finally decided to photograph it yesterday and thought I'd try creating a creepy animal thing out of them today (I've seen this done previously using nuts) and so, here we have the Socket Serpent!

These are the joint techniques I used for Protoman and forgot to upload. From left to right: Ankle, knee, hip.

The ankle can be modified for elbows. The base can use any ball socket.

The knee is the strongest type for its size. It has a good range of motion in a single plane and can be modified for many situations. Important to note, the perpendicular connector has to be weaker than the #1 connector (shown in white).

The hip can be used as a shoulder or wrist. Doesn't work well for ankles. It's the most compact and universal way to make this. If you need more strength, add ball joints and sockets. The only limit is the strength of the axle itself.

An opening on an ink converter connects the helicoid rod with the turning knob. This photo was taken with a Meopta Belar 50mm f/4.5. The lens has a square aperture, which is my closest approximation to the rectangular socket on the converter.

The things you end up taking a photo of, at the end of a busy day!

A power socket in a museum, just above floor level on a green wall. The wall shows heavy signs of wear and tear because it is a play area for children.

Just having a bit of fun.

One of several sockets like this at the Cottonwood Grove Dance Pavilion in Marysvale, Utah. It began operations May 20, 1939. The dance pavilion later added roller skating to the dance activities as dance halls become less popular. After the dance hall closed it was used for occasional community events but it soon fell into disrepair and wasn’t used for many years. In recent years the concrete dance floor has been flooded with six inches of water and used for the now annual “Fish Rodeo” where 200 children wade in the shallow water and attempt to catch live fish with their bare hands.

Messing around & took some shots of my old Pioneer DVD player before it got slung out. This is a HDR image

Its tricky getting back into the swing of things on flickr...finding grups where people are "active, socialable and the like ;)" Feel like a newbie again!

Quick lil test photo with all the kits (and kitbash) I've painted so far. Feels nice to see em all in one place.

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "socket". Not much you can do with a subject like that - this is a mains outlet in our kitchen.
