Macro Mondays - Socket

Happy Macro Monday everyone.

Just my phone!

Image is 1 3/8 inches wide.

About 8 months early but let us take a Macro Mondays look at a Christmas Light Socket, frame size is 3/8 inch long or 13mm long.

Today's Macro Mondays theme is socket. I wanted this innocent-looking socket to seem completely shocked upon hearing that a plug was coming her way. My brain and soul needed something light and unserious, if just for a bit today; the world is so heavy and uncertain. HMM!

As a child of the 1960's, I was quite familiar with the phrase Sock it to me! when it was repeated over and over to great effect in the 1967 hit recording Respect by Aretha Franklin (lyrics by Otis Redding). The phrase invokes a spirited readiness to accept a challenge, as in 'give me your best shot'.

I hadn't initially planned on participating this week, then I thought of the title for the image (my apologies!). All I needed was Brian to perform, showing his best attitude and looking ready for anything. I decided to use a Brian with the striped shell as it complemented the striped reflections on the sockets which was emphasised in the monochrome treatment.

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

Seen better days...

Electric bolts coming off the pins of a Electric plug into a two pin Electric Adaptor socket. The electric was created using a Electric gas Igniter but what you can't see is the Ozone gas given of by the spark. It a shame I couldn't create the shot Underwater 😂

These are man-made sockets and not real body-parts, but I decided againts posting this picture to the group, it's a case of doubt.

"This theme is about human-designed sockets and not about body parts such as eye sockets or socket joints. Photos depicting naturally occuring sockets or body parts will be removed."

This picture depicts a porcelain doll's head, not a real bodypart.

Arm popje, haar lieve 'slaap'-oogjes zijn losgeraakt en rammelen nu in haar kleine hoofdje, lastig restauratie-klusje!

No highlights were blown.

A "socket" is an opening or hollow designed to form a connection to a mating part. There are numerous examples of electrical sockets: light sockets, CPU sockets, USB sockets, outlets, headphone sockets, and vacuum-tube sockets to name a few. Non-electrical sockets include things like socket wrenches and pipe sockets.

These sockets are bayonet mounts for twin antennas on a handheld frequency analyzer. This is the thing you see them waving around in the movies looking for bugs and hidden listening devices. It also has many other uses. The two antennas make it directional. It is 2 3/4 inches wide.
