My first ever attempt at focus stacking - a blend of 9 different shots.

MM challenge - from the huge socket set -so many pieces but so helpful when you find the right one

A couple of socket, the smaller one coming loose from the case and settling inside the larger one. Perfect composition for another 'squared circle' for the project.

On the headland about 10m above St Peter's church there are two sets of rock-cut tombs or graves. They probably date from the 10th century. Each grave is cut out of the sandstone.

A set of six of these, two straight-sided and four body-shaped all with socket holes at the top where a wooden cross would have been placed. Two more rock-cut graves can be seen close by. The graves are often filled with rain water.

In 1970 a cemetery to the S of this site was excavated and 85 sets of bones were found and dated to the 10th-11th century. The rock cut graves are grade 1 listed and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Shimano (bicycle) cassette lock ring socket moving away from the lens at speed from focus to 40mm using the quill stop and auto quill extraction in a pillar drill (not spinning)

Socket diameter 23mm.

2 lights, front and left, just below the lens height to avoid flare.

I had to blackout many parts of the pillar drill and work in a completely dark room apart from the two lights for the subject.

This iceberg reminded me of the eye socket pictures that I saw in biology lessons many, many years ago.

For "Macro Mondays" ; theme : "Socket".

This socket is about 1/2" across.

This image is of a Miops Water drop control kit valve control box that controls the size and frequency of the drips / drops. The water reservoir fits onto this and forms the business end of the water splash drop kit.

In this image you can see a screw head at the bottom, this is used to dismantle the unit for cleaning after using a mixture of water and glycerin, above that is the power / operating light. The bottom socket is where the usb C power plug is inserted, the middle socket is where a flash control cable is inserted (if required) and the top is the socket for a camera shutter release cable is placed.

The dimensions of the item shown is 3 inches from the bottom of the screw to the top of the indentation of the socket group. it is 1 inch in width.

Circuit board for developing electronic circuits. I claim the most sockets in an image in this theme :-)

The Allen socket end of a rusty brake caliper slide pin(or guide pin, or guide bolt) . I think the rust and corrosion gives it a lot of character. I found it laying on the road. By it's condition it's been there a while. My hope is it dropped off the back of a mechanic's truck, and didn't drop out of the disc brake assembly of a passing vehicle! The end on outside width of the pin is 1.6cm.

A mosaic of the new Bionicle island using classic socket elements. (It's not super apparent in this pict, but there's also some layering in the mountains.)

The things you end up taking a photo of, at the end of a busy day!
