This is the old Barker Brothers furniture building on Broadway. It was built in 1908. Today, the ground level has a very colorful arcade and snack bar.
Snack vendors roaming the street looking for a crowded area where they could park their push cart and sell their fried finger food ( such as fish balls, squid balls, chicken balls and Kikiam) for snack.
Enjoying a snack poolside. Technically a no-no, but apparently the guards are a little lenient on the no eating inside the fence rule this year.

Um, snack with a bit of candy too ... we should have gone to Disneyland, but I changed my mind, and I think it was better. I cut the boys' hair, they had a shower, me too, they had their snack on the balcony (we usually don't do that), went in the garden to blow/chase bubbles, and I also made them sort out ALL of their tiny stuffs (you know, the papers, the cards, the dices, the marbles, and lots of things I couldn't even name !) on/inside/under their bedside table, and also under their bed. It was very therapeutic for them, and I think it helped (silently) them making a bit of transition between here & Montpellier. One step at a time. They threw a lot of things, which is totally good, and I'm happy they were willing to do that. They even dusted their bedside table themselves ! Yeah !
Better than going to Disney, right ? (June 17th 2009)
For a few bucks, I picked up a Filipino dessert of sweet sticky rice inside a banana leaf, and a Northern Thai sour sausage roll. The sweet taste of one and the sour/bitter taste of the other balanced each other nicely.
