These inconspicuous little flowers -pseudorchis albida- are orchids that can be typically found in alpine regions in Northern Eurasia. English common names (at least of orchids) are usually much more conclusive than the German ones, and although "small white orchid" isn't particularly inventive (if undoubtedly fitting) this flower is sometimes also referred to as "vanilla-scented bog orchid". Guess who forgot to sniff ONCE AGAIN!
The Small Copper is a fast flying butterfly that, once settled, is unmistakable with its bright copper-coloured forewings. It is a widespread species and a familiar and welcome sight for many naturalists throughout the summer months. This butterfly occurs in discrete colonies throughout Britain and Ireland, but is absent from mountainous areas and far north-west Scotland, the Outer Hebrides and Shetland. Most colonies are fairly small, with just a few adults being seen on the wing at any one time.

So small that I was able to place my tripod over the small stream to capture the falls and the lovely reds and yellows of the fallen leaves.

The village of St. Maddalena is located at the rear end of the Villnöss valley at an altitude of 1,339 m above sea level in the Trentino-Alto Adige region in northern Italy. This is the place where the most popular photographic subjects are to be found, as the Church of St. Magdalena and the Geisler/Odle massif. The main peak of the massif is Sass Rigais, 3,025 m above sea level. The village is a popular destination for tourists, especially those interested in hiking and winter sports.

Finally got my Small Copper shot, boy did that take some chasing!! I have only seen 6 this year and only singular ones, on 6 different sites.
