Sculpt progress on Zhora Salome - Taffy's Bar Dancer - Blade Runner - 1:18 scale.

IGNORE THE FACIAL SCULPT - For placement only. Haven't begun sculpting her likeness yet.

I have been spending the past couple (very late) evenings sculpting the body. Not complete yet - obviously - but wanted to get some images out there to show the progress. The figure will represent Joanna Cassidy's character Zhora, first appearing in Taffy's Bar as a burlesque dancer. The character's costume is sequence and strategically placed pasties so it's important the form/proportions of the figure works with the character. Adjustments are being made constantly as the sculpt progresses. The figure will not require multiple points of articulation unlike other figures I will be working on including Zhora's alternate "badass" persona.

Not bad seeing that this time last week the figure was nothing more that a bare frame. More progress to come!!! #zhora #replicant #joannacassidy #sculpture #avesstudio #FIXIT

**UPDATE** - Here are the sisters close to having the frame sculpting completed - I raised the hips on the one and finished sculpting the lower legs on the other. You'll notice that one is slightly shorter than the other...very happy with the differences. Each a unique figure.

Here are the Tonnika Sisters completed head sculpts - both hair styles differ as was in the movie. I will complete the body sculpt and begin working on the costume details. I am also rolling around the idea of doing two additional head sculpts of the sisters as one appeared in the Clone Wars animated program - just an image shown briefly in the jedi library but with a hair style much different to what is seen in A New Hope.

Jennir comes with two additional head sculpts - the primary being the hooded "stranger", and the secondary being the "Bearded" and "Jedi Warrior" head sculpts. The "Jedi Warrior" head sculpt was a last minute addition - decided to include the sculpt after reading the last issue of the Blue Harvest storyline (issue 17). Even though the figure does not reflect the exact costume he wore in the issue, the head sculpt is a nice compliment to the set

Ava part breakdown....

Completed Jedi Master Luke Skywalker as seen in issue #3 of Star Wars Invasion by Dark Horse Comics. Luke is in command of Republic forces sent to the planet Rychel in order to repel the invading forces of the Yuuzhan Vong.

The figure was mostly sculpted in Aves Epoxy FIXIT sculpt using a plastic articulated armature. The forearms and hands have been recasted from original parts. The head originalted from a Legacy Snowspeeder Luke figure, casted in wax and completly retooled and refined adding additional markings to the face, age lines, a lower brow, hair and ears...I also strengthened the jaw. The figure measures 3.75" in height. Painted using Floyquil Acrylics by testors.

Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale - ALIEN (79).

Material used - Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Clay

Completed the sculpt of the "control sticks" for each hand, "the interface" and detail along the back of the pilot's chair. I want to tackle the upper rear of the pilot chair before moving onto another project. Been a couple additional weeks than I planned to work on this piece but I'm "in the zone" so to speak and want to continue while not suffering a loss of interest. I'm doing this in my own time and not for a client so I have that luxury.

Crazy to think I look at this piece as becoming an "action figure accessory" or some part of a 1:18 scaled play set. It's where my mindset is...always has been since this ALIEN 79 project started. It just so happens that it's a sculpture study at the same time LOL!

I've taken care to be as accurate as possible to the Giger production version of the doomed pilot but I'm sure a few spots have emerged as "best interpretation" at this point. I'm not looking to be 100% spot on. I don't think anyone who has taken on this project has. I hope those of you who are die hard Space Jockey fans will be forgiving.

Early sculpt work on the cybernetic nightmare - The head sculpt will be sculpted piece by piece, layer by layer. At one point I will cast the partially finished head and continue...just in case I'm not happy with the final result I don't have to start from scratch. The head will be ball jointed. I have also started work on the neck, shoulders and upper arms.

These were one of the additional costumes you could purchase seperately after the initial release of the original Force Unleashed game. This will not be an easy figure to create - look forward to seeing it's progression.

I hope these early images show you how much effort goes into creating these figures - probably the most difficult part of building one of these is the early stages, creating a working armature that will allow the articulation I want as well as support the sculpt work I intend to apply.

Sculpt update on the Neomorph - Alien: Covenant - 1:18 scale work in progress.

Sculpt made using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio LLC

Began working on the upper torso of the figure, exaggerating the dept of the ribcage a bit so a thinner application of FIXIT can be added once cured. Need to add detail to the back and create the "spikes" that protrude.

Next will be the lower torso, another head variant, tail and arms. More to come! #alien #aliens #covenant #neomorph #xenomorph #protomorph #sculpture #aves #avesfixitsculpt #avesstudio #customactionfigure #miniature

Sculpt update on the Praetorian Xeno (egg morpher) - Aliens: Defiance and the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - all works in progress, 1:18 scale.

Completed more detail to the lower abdomen of the Praetorian with a sculpt similar to the Giger Alien 79. Sculpt using Aves FIXIT sculpt by Aves Studio LLC. I need to finish the lower back, detail of the "fin" between the shoulders and I want to create the base of the tail before moving onto the arms and legs.

Sculpt update on the Egg Morpher Xenomorph - Aliens: Defiance - 1:18 scale.

Completed the sculpt to one of the hands. Happy how it turned out, yet a snag....the hand is a tad too big for the body. My fault, I misjudged the proportion. Can't have that so I will rework the sculpt again, smaller this time.

Before I do though, I will mold this version just in case I ever need it.

So a success and a fail....only to succeed again. You have to keep a positive attitude when things like this happen. More updates coming soon :) #alien #aliens #aliensdefiance #darkhorsecomics #sculpture #monster #customactionfigure #sculptinghands #art #miniature

Straying from the path he has sturggled to hold true, Dass Jennir arrives on Telerath. Unbeknownst to Jennir, his destiny with the living force is about to be revealed and his burdened conscience wiped clean....

Dass Jennir is a favorite character of mine from the Star Wars Dark Horse Expanded Universe.

My apologies for taking so long to complete this piece...as with all my work, I never center my full attention on just one project, always a bit at a time, tabling and returning to the subject when the inspiration hits.

This is a 1:18th scale figure - fully articulated with all the basic movements and can be posed in many postions like other factory made figures...mostly when his cowl is removed.

Both figures sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and painted using Floyquil Acrylics.

Completed Sian Jeisel from the Dark Horse comic series - Star Wars: Republic. The figure is 3.75" high and sculpted using Aves FIXIT two-part epoxy and painted using Floquil Acrylics. Visit sithfire.blogspot.com/ for additional details.

Added additional detailing to the helmet. The inside will be hollowed out and broken down into three components for the next phase.

The first of two semi-static posed figures of the creature from the 1979 film, Alien. Hand sculpted, hand painted. This version depicts the beast as it would have appeared in several promotional test shots during pre-production, the air duct scene where Captain Dallas met his end as well as a deleted scene appearing within the corridor while Parker and Lambert were making their desperate escape.

Figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Nera Dantels was a female smuggler who worked for the rebel alliance as seen in the short lived Dark Horse Comics series Rebellion. I am currently working on the main body sculpt and head. May have to revisit the face a bit because it appeares to be too thin. More details coming soon :)

H2 was fun to create! The droid was once an R2-D2 figure, with heavy modifications to the sides, head, legs (removed) and undercarriage. The wings are made from styrene and epoxy with a small plastic tube threaded through the main body to either side. The head and wings have a full range of rotation. The clear stand was once that from a microman figure - works perfectly with H2.

Progress on my 1:18 Darth Vader sculpt - still testing the "soft goods" and was able to aquire real chain for the cape! The helmet is a completed two part cast - ready to be painted. Still have a bit more to do with the body but think Vader should be completed soon! Here is a shot showing the articulation.

Will begin sculpting the lower torso first.

starting to work on the detail of vaders helmet....will have a magnet embedded to alow the hemet to stay on correctly.

The beginning sculpt work for Starkiller as the Sith Stalker from The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition.

Took some images using my 35mm camera instead of my smart phone (similar to the image I shared last night). Hope you enjoy!!‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎spacejockey‬ ‪#‎sculpture‬ ‪#‎hrgiger‬ ‪#‎derelict‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎art‬ ‪#‎sithfire30‬

I have reduced the size of the horns for my Savage Opress sculpt - the remaining horns will be sculpted at this scale. Savage is an animal, a beast - I think the horns are at a proportion now to better reflect that description.

I've taken a series of photos that show the early work into getting the Savage Opress's frame constructed as well as some early stages into the sculpt. The first handfull of images are an experiment with articulation.

**UPDATE** Completed the forearms and added the first layer of sculpt to the upper legs. The lower abdomen and back still need some work. The arms are maxxed out on articulation - swivel/hinge joints to the the wrists, swivel joint on the forearm and the elbow/shoulder are ball joints. Due to the damage Malgus received to his jaw, throat and neck during the Aldreean campaign, a special mask had to be worn for protection. This reflects his appearance during the"Deceived" trailer as he commanded Imperial/Sith forces in the sacking of Coruscant.

Darth Malgus from the upcoming Bioware game Star Wars: Old Republic. You've seen this dark lord in the "Hope" trailer - he will have alternate damaged body armor and an alternate head featuring the respirator seen in the "Deceived" trailer.

I plan to cast the shoulder armor which will also recieve damage. This reflects his appearance near the end of

Sculpt update to the Praetorian Xenomorph (egg morpher) - Alien: Defiance - 1:18 scale work in progress.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT from Aves Studio LLC

Forgive the skinny arms and clay spots holding everything together LOL! Using some wax clay to bring in all the parts to show how the figure is coming along. The arm frames are prior castings of the 79 Alien along with acrylic rods to make the appendages longer - the length of the creature's limbs are to be exaggerated just bit. In my opinion the elongated limbs brings with it that "creep" factor. The next step will be to sculpt the arms and begin work on the tail...which will conatin a good amount of detail.

More to come! #alien #aliens #darkhorsecomics #defiance #aves #avesfixit #sculpting #xenomorph #praetorian #eggmorphing #customactionfigure

An update to my ultimate Darth Vader - I have completed the body sculpt and have added a coat of black paint to the form but haven't added shading nor any details yet. My main objective right now is to create three Vader helmets, each having a distinct look to the episode they appeared in (A New Hope, Empire and Jedi) The helmet for ANH is more of a combat ready version, dulled out and worn. I think I'm close to achieving the look - but I think the eye pieces need to be larger. Once I have the look down, the only difference I see with the other two would be the shine and shape of the dome piece. After I have finalized all three, I will go back and create a helmet that can be broken down into the three components. After that, sculpts of Vader's head to fit the helmets, and possibly additional articulation to the body. So I have a looonnngg way to go :)

Progress on my 1:18 Darth Vader sculpt - still testing the "soft goods" and was able to aquire real chain for the cape! The helmet is a completed two part cast - ready to be painted. Still have a bit more to do with the body but think Vader should be completed soon!
