The body armor seen here is complete! I have sculpted detail to the shoulder straps and added the chest strap . The completed shoulder armor and guard are connected by a clear band, then strapped to the under arm using a second clear band. This now gives the figure the same wide range of articulation as before.

Work in Progress on the body of Starkiller in his Arena Combat Gear - the costume mostly associated with this character in The Force Unleashed 2. Working is the upper body, abdomen, shoulders, arms and body armor.

And here is is! All eight alternate versions for my 1:18 scale Darth Malgus sculpt. Lets see if I can run through the evolutions - from left to right -

1. Sith Acolyte "Return" trailer

2. Sith Acolyte FURY

3. Young Sith Lord

4. Sith Lord "Hope" trailer - Alderaan

5. Sith Lord "Hope" trailer - FURY

6. Sith Lord "Hope" trailer battle damage version 1

7, Sith Lord "Hope" trailer battle damage version 2

Completed Sian Jeisel from the Dark Horse comic series - Star Wars: Republic. The figure is 3.75" high and sculpted using Aves FIXIT two-part epoxy and painted using Floquil Acrylics. Visit sithfire.blogspot.com/ for additional details.

Straying from the path he has sturggled to hold true, Dass Jennir arrives on Telerath. Unbeknownst to Jennir, his destiny with the living force is about to be revealed and his burdened conscience wiped clean....

Dass Jennir is a favorite character of mine from the Star Wars Dark Horse Expanded Universe.

My apologies for taking so long to complete this piece...as with all my work, I never center my full attention on just one project, always a bit at a time, tabling and returning to the subject when the inspiration hits.

This is a 1:18th scale figure - fully articulated with all the basic movements and can be posed in many postions like other factory made figures...mostly when his cowl is removed.

Both figures sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and painted using Floyquil Acrylics.

Here are some shots with Jennir's Bearded head sculpt - a seperate cowl piece was sculpted and fit to give the appearance that hood was lowered around the shoulders. The hat has a clear band that goes around the neck under this seperate piece which hides it. Then the head is attached.

Painting time!!! Gotta get myself into the mood - a few days late for Alien Day but with my work pretty much everyday is Alien Day lol! #painting #miniature #alien #alienday #nostromo

Completed Jedi Master Luke Skywalker as seen in issue #3 of Star Wars Invasion by Dark Horse Comics. Luke is in command of Republic forces sent to the planet Rychel in order to repel the invading forces of the Yuuzhan Vong.

The figure was mostly sculpted in Aves Epoxy FIXIT sculpt using a plastic articulated armature. The forearms and hands have been recasted from original parts. The head originalted from a Legacy Snowspeeder Luke figure, casted in wax and completly retooled and refined adding additional markings to the face, age lines, a lower brow, hair and ears...I also strengthened the jaw. The figure measures 3.75" in height. Painted using Floyquil Acrylics by testors.

1:18 scale sculpt work (in progress) of Baby Doll from the motion picture Sucker Punch. Upper/lower torso complete - I always sculpt the form first, then add details such as clothing, armor ect later. Arms are still bare but not for long. The head sculpt isn't finalized. More to come! sithfire.blogspot.com/

**UPDATE** Completed the forearms and added the first layer of sculpt to the upper legs. The lower abdomen and back still need some work. The arms are maxxed out on articulation - swivel/hinge joints to the the wrists, swivel joint on the forearm and the elbow/shoulder are ball joints. Due to the damage Malgus received to his jaw, throat and neck during the Aldreean campaign, a special mask had to be worn for protection. This sculpt (not completed - additional details need to be applied) reflects his appearance during the "Deceived" trailer as he commanded Imperial/Sith forces in the sacking of Coruscant.

Darth Malgus from the upcoming Bioware game Star Wars: Old Republic. You've seen this dark lord in the "Hope" trailer - he will have alternate damaged body armor and an alternate head featuring the respirator seen in the "Deceived" trailer.

Usually the first attempt at a new alien dome would require at least one adjustment so that the dome "snaps" into place....This time though, success straight from the gate!!! This dome snaps perfectly onto the alien head and hugs the contours just underneath.

Images you see here are of both the master sculpt and initial cast with domes attached. I increase the tones in the images so you can see the shell of the clear dome.

More images to come as I continue with the inner jaw and tendons - am thrilled this step in the vac forming was the only step needed. :) #alien #aliencovenant #protomorph #xenomorph #vacuumforming #PETG #dome #sculpting #success

Sian teamed up with Aayla Secura as they both appeared in the Star Wars comic series - Republic.

Here are the Tonnika Sisters completed head sculpts - both hair styles differ as was in the movie. I will complete the body sculpt and begin working on the costume details. I am also rolling around the idea of doing two additional head sculpts of the sisters as one appeared in the Clone Wars animated program - just an image shown briefly in the jedi library but with a hair style much different to what is seen in A New Hope.

Sculpt update on the "Egg Layer" Xenomorph - Aliens: Defiance. 1:18 scale. Based on the artwork by T-Rex Jones (Tristan Jones) for Dark Horse Comics.

I've never been happy with my head sculpt of the creature...it's always been a little off from the art Tristan created. The other day, I reworked the head sculpt once more, adding a thicker, longer jaw bone, adding some meat to the cranium and shortening the winged flaps on both sides of the frontal section. I also pushed the jaw back a bot giving the creature a slight overbite.

Much happier with the look now and should be even happier once the tendons surrounding the mouth are sculpted in.

Shaped the wire for the new hand...already began the sculpt of the fingers which will be updated soon.

I've brought down another piece to the workbench...it's been awhile and hope to get some new sculpt progress made soon. #spacejockey

Thanks for looking!! More to come!

The beginnings of the Meditiation Chamber from The Empire Strikes Back...the chair appears to be a bit too big...will reduce before adding detail. The sculpt of the seat will be worked to allow the figure to "connect" to the chair so to speak..and not roll around. Shot of the "Dome" removed for the head.

An update to my ultimate Darth Vader - I have completed the body sculpt and have added a coat of black paint to the form but haven't added shading nor any details yet. My main objective right now is to create three Vader helmets, each having a distinct look to the episode they appeared in (A New Hope, Empire and Jedi) The helmet for ANH is more of a combat ready version, dulled out and worn. I think I'm close to achieving the look - but I think the eye pieces need to be larger. Once I have the look down, the only difference I see with the other two would be the shine and shape of the dome piece. After I have finalized all three, I will go back and create a helmet that can be broken down into the three components. After that, sculpts of Vader's head to fit the helmets, and possibly additional articulation to the body. So I have a looonnngg way to go :)

Sculpt progress on The Engineers - 1:18 scale - Prometheus. I included a scale shot of the creatures compared to the human sculpts I am working on - in this case Elizabeth Shaw. #prometheus #engineers #alien

Sculpt update on the Protomorph - Alien: Covenant and the beginnings of the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - both 1:18 scale.

Almost have the upper torso sculpt complete for the Protomorph. Need to complete sculpt detail around the shoulders and back. The lower torso and abdomen has a completed frame ready to be sculpted. A little flimsy right now but once the sculpt is complete is will give the upper body more stability.

The Newborn from Alien: Resurrection. A very early update - not much at this point but you can see where I'm going with it. Always felt sorry for this creature in the film...and it's death was HORRIBLE!!! Very hard to watch and way over the top in my opinion. Still one of my least favorite films from the ALIEN franchise but this beast was a great idea design wise in my opinion. They way it was used?...that's another story. Hope to have a handful of variants of the head sculpt - Neutral, "Mommy", "Fire BAD" and tongue LOL! Those that have seen the film know what I'm talking about.

The work in progress on my 1:18 scale articulated sculpt of MGS4 Raiden. The frame is a reduced microman body using Aves FIXIT for my sculpting material. Am preparing to continue working on the ams and legs. Still trying to figure out how to incorporate the clear pieces...the blade is out of to parts, mended together and will be sanded to appear as a one piece blade.

Sculpt progress on Zhora Salome - Taffy's Bar Dancer - Blade Runner - 1:18 scale.

IGNORE THE FACIAL SCULPT - For placement only. Haven't begun sculpting her likeness yet.

I have been spending the past couple (very late) evenings sculpting the body. Not complete yet - obviously - but wanted to get some images out there to show the progress. The figure will represent Joanna Cassidy's character Zhora, first appearing in Taffy's Bar as a burlesque dancer. The character's costume is sequence and strategically placed pasties so it's important the form/proportions of the figure works with the character. Adjustments are being made constantly as the sculpt progresses. The figure will not require multiple points of articulation unlike other figures I will be working on including Zhora's alternate "badass" persona.

Not bad seeing that this time last week the figure was nothing more that a bare frame. More progress to come!!! #zhora #replicant #joannacassidy #sculpture #avesstudio #FIXIT

The sculpt work on Starkiller is complete - next up is the paint application. The figure has been primed using Floquil Undercoat Gray acrylic. 1:18 scale - 3.75" tall.

Paint test for the Newborn head sculpt - Alien: Resurrection.

As said, this is a paint test...not much detailing added, it helps me figure what paints necessary, as well as custom mixes that may be needed. Also helps to familiarize myself with the terrain so to speak...so I don't screw up on a final casting. Simply put - it's a practice piece.

There's many interpretations of the creatures skin color - some have it fleshy, pale appearance (like seen in the film), others have a greenish/gray hue. I will stick with the production/prop tones (which is a mix of both) for this piece. Love the dark, soulless eyes...ohhhh eerie!

I have my paint selected, mixed and ready to begin the final application for the sample that will be on display in France during the Caro/Jeunet expo in October. Updates coming soon! #painting #newborn #alien #customactionfigure #monsters

From the Dark Horse comic series Knights of the Old Republic, written by John Jackson Miller, comes my completed Zayne Carrick as he appeared in part four of Commencement.

Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale - ALIEN (79).

Material used - Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Clay

Completed the sculpt of the "control sticks" for each hand, "the interface" and detail along the back of the pilot's chair. I want to tackle the upper rear of the pilot chair before moving onto another project. Been a couple additional weeks than I planned to work on this piece but I'm "in the zone" so to speak and want to continue while not suffering a loss of interest. I'm doing this in my own time and not for a client so I have that luxury.

Crazy to think I look at this piece as becoming an "action figure accessory" or some part of a 1:18 scaled play set. It's where my mindset is...always has been since this ALIEN 79 project started. It just so happens that it's a sculpture study at the same time LOL!

I've taken care to be as accurate as possible to the Giger production version of the doomed pilot but I'm sure a few spots have emerged as "best interpretation" at this point. I'm not looking to be 100% spot on. I don't think anyone who has taken on this project has. I hope those of you who are die hard Space Jockey fans will be forgiving.

Added more to the head reconstruction, as well as the other shoulder and upper arm. Close to making a casting of the head then I will continue.

I hope these early images show you how much effort goes into creating these figures - probably the most difficult part of building one of these is the early stages, creating a working armature that will allow the articulation I want as well as support the sculpt work I intend to apply.

I have reduced the size of the horns for my Savage Opress sculpt - the remaining horns will be sculpted at this scale. Savage is an animal, a beast - I think the horns are at a proportion now to better reflect that description.

Sculpt update to the Praetorian Xenomorph (egg morpher) - Alien: Defiance - 1:18 scale work in progress.

Sculpt using Aves FIXIT from Aves Studio LLC

Forgive the skinny arms and clay spots holding everything together LOL! Using some wax clay to bring in all the parts to show how the figure is coming along. The arm frames are prior castings of the 79 Alien along with acrylic rods to make the appendages longer - the length of the creature's limbs are to be exaggerated just bit. In my opinion the elongated limbs brings with it that "creep" factor. The next step will be to sculpt the arms and begin work on the tail...which will conatin a good amount of detail.

More to come! #alien #aliens #darkhorsecomics #defiance #aves #avesfixit #sculpting #xenomorph #praetorian #eggmorphing #customactionfigure

Many of you have asked that I show what an unfinished frame looks like before I reduce it down for sculpting - here's one (my most complex) I completed last night- I will be working on the insectoid character Spraug - a Vratix criminal on Nar Shadda - A character found in the pages of the Dark Horse comics series SW: Invasion with Tom Taylor and Colin Wilson. Check out the character description here...http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Spraug. Many wookies died to bring us this frame .

**UPDATE** - Here are the sisters close to having the frame sculpting completed - I raised the hips on the one and finished sculpting the lower legs on the other. You'll notice that one is slightly shorter than the other...very happy with the differences. Each a unique figure.

Jennir comes with two additional head sculpts - the primary being the hooded "stranger", and the secondary being the "Bearded" and "Jedi Warrior" head sculpts. The "Jedi Warrior" head sculpt was a last minute addition - decided to include the sculpt after reading the last issue of the Blue Harvest storyline (issue 17). Even though the figure does not reflect the exact costume he wore in the issue, the head sculpt is a nice compliment to the set
