The IU Kokomo School of Nursing and School of Education, in conjunction with Second Harvest, hosted a poverty simulation in which students try to live for in poverty for one month, condensed into an hour for the simulation. Various scenarios are assigned ranging from a single parent of 5 kids to a single person with no job and no home.
At the 2019 World Economic Forum, 'A Day in the Life of a Refugee', run by Crossroads Foundation, invites participants to take a few steps in the shoes of refugees, through a simulated environment which re-creates some of the struggles and choices they face to survive, each day. 2019-01-23 12:30 session

Not only does our school employ numerous full-body baby, child, male, female and geriatric manikins, but we also use specific simulators for such skills as urinary catheterization, tracheostomy care, and IV administration (pictured) -- and the list goes on and on!
In this poverty simulation, participants assume the roles of different families facing poverty. The task of the "families" is to provide for their basic necessities and shelter during the course of four 15 minute "weeks."

Cameras, video recorders, cell phones or the traditional pen and paper were all employed by the media to cover immigration reform. The Congressional Simulation Exercise on April 4 was designed to give about 120 West Point cadets in the SS202 and SS252 (American Politics) courses a hands-on, real-world simulation of government in action. Participants absorbed the role of legislators, journalist, lobbyists and presidential advisers in a daylong capstone exercise to see who could use political capital to create the best outcome for their group.
