Same train, different spots on the track.

For the first time since GBRf took over the Frethun (Calais) to Irvine Caledonian Paper china clay slurry flow at the start of 2017, a DB/EWS-liveried locomotive hauled 6S94 north of Dollands Moor. This wasn't a hire-in, though, but the last of the ten Class 66s bought by GBRf from DB Cargo in December 2017 to be in its former owner's colours.

Class 66, 66 008 - soon to become 66 780 - powers its load of twenty tanks north through Hartford station. After an earlier delay in Kent, 6S94 had left Wembley 74 Late, however by Hartford (and with the help of missing out some loopings) 66008 and reduced the delay to just 7 Late.

These tanks were due to run the previous Thursday, but after some issues getting the tanks through from France the load was eventually brought through the tunnel on the Monday night (by GBRf's 92 032 + 92 044) and then ran in its "usual" Wednesday path - via the Settle & Carlisle as it has done regularly in recent months.

Evidence of some of the modifications GBRf are making to the ten "GBOB" 66s to bring them into line with their existing 66/7 fleet can be seen with the windows having been replaced with double-glazed units. This mod, along with the fitting of air-con, are key driver comfort improvements and done at Longport EMD.

66008/66780 will go into Eastleigh in the coming weeks to receive its new livery - but will that be standard GBRf blue and orange, or something a little different...??

Another fine museum example. I remember travelling on these right up until the early 80's as our line was the last (I think) to be electrified. In the end, it was these diesel rail cars that covered the passenger delivery as the old coaches had been retired by the incoming electrics.

They were beautiful beasts to look at ... but noisy and bumpy to travel in.

On a beautiful but cold winter's morning, GBRf Class 92, 92 028 powers the 6S94 china clay tanks north through Winsford en route to Irvine Caledonian Paper. Class 66, 66 722 "Sir Edward Watkin" was DIT having earlier hauled the train from Dollands Moor to Wembley over the troublesome Third Rail.

6S94 usually runs Slow Line on this stretch and then waits for express passenger services to pass prior to the line become two-track just north of here. However today, 92028 with its 1,900 tonnes in tow came straight through on the Down Fast - and with a Pendolino in hot pursuit.

First time for me seeing GBRf Class 92, 92 028, hauling the china clay tanks (6S94 Wembley - Irvine Caledonian Paper) after it managed to evade me in darkness the last couple of times it worked this train.

92 028 powers away after a signal check just south of Winsford station with 66728 "Institution of Railway Operators" tucked inside (DIT) plus 20 ICA "silver bullet" wagons meaning a load of 1,850+ tonnes on the draw-hook.

B-HUR departing heavy in nice early morning light. It was eventually transferred to Air Hong Kong where it now operates.

Cathay no longer fly any BCFs leaving the -400F, -400ERF and the 8F as the remaining types for cargo.

There were several of these spinning ballyhoo fiberglass figurine dancer pairs on turntables mounted to a beam surrounding the Alpine (originally Rotor) attraction. The classic Rotor was decorated with them as an upgrade when the Pike became Nu-Pike or Queen's Park.

When the park was dismantled in 1979, many of it's parts were sold or scrapped. The Rotor was a trailer model but ended up installed in a park at the western foot of Magic Mountain as "Spinout" and one of the fiberglass dancing figures was sold to Knott's Berry Farm as the spinning dancers mounted above the splash zone water tower at Grand Entrance, having been suitably redecorated with the girl facing the other way and guy fitted with a holster belt of six-guns.

Emergency! (1975) Queens Park Kiddie-Land is documented in the 'Transition (#4.15) episode. Roy, John and Gill Robinson, a new Paramedic, assist Chuck, a child suffering a nosebleed from the Go-Karts - Giant Slide and Wheel of Fun, a kiddie-Ferris-wheel, can be seen after Squad 51 parks in front of the Carousel and kiddie-go-round. Then Squad 51 returns to "50 Ocean, intersection of Pacific" to rescue a heart attack victim and others stranded aboard Space-Capsule/Hi-Ride by a jammed cable - scenes include views of the Sky Wheel dual Ferris-wheel, Octopus, Rotor, Laff-in-the-Dark, Sky-Ride chairlift, Round-Up and Swiss Bobs retheme of Wilde Maus roller coaster, all in motion, and the halted Hi-Ride in white Queen's Park paint.

The last remaining operational GBRf Class 92 in Triple Grey livery, 92 044 "Couperin", leads Class 66, 66 724 "Drax Power Station" (DIT) on the weekly 6S94 china clay ICA tanks working from Wembley EFOC to Irvine Caledonian Paper. 66724 had earlier hauled the train (with 92044 DIT) from Dollands Moor to Wembley (6B94). The train was delayed c.2.5 hours due to an extended stay in Bletchley Loop - believed to be due to wheelflats being detected on the wagons. If so, it would be the third time in as many runs the same issue had significantly delayed 6S94.
