A rare one for me in two respects...
Class 24s never really troubled my camera; I only have one shot of any actually working a train when in BR service, and that was a special. The only other two photos I took were of 24032 shortly after arriving on the NYMR in 1976, and this one.
This was taken at Doncaster Shed in March 1977, which was the other rare element, as this was the one and only time I ever got anywhere near getting round it.
I didn't keep proper notes until I got my Zenit in May 1978, so I don't have an exact date. By trawling Flickr to look for anything similar, I have discovered the two classmates behind 24099 are 24125 and 24126. All were, by this date, withdrawn and awating breaking up.

Silent Strength: This is Karen, my wife, my best friend, my lover, and we recently celebrated 33 years of marriage.
A few weeks ago, Karen was diagnosed with cancer. Talk about a kick in the nuts...we never saw this coming.
The next few months are going to be difficult...but we'll get through this.

Thanks all for the feedback on the posting "Silent Night" from the other day. It inspired me to get rid of the pier on the bottom right corner and side of the frame. It was quite challenging to clone away the pier as the water there was in full gradient with the light and shadow. Did some layers, blending, and stretching but in the end turned out okay I think. I have indicated on the photo where the pier was.
I also remembered that two weeks after this capture I had taken a similar comp after sunset the night of the Holiday parade of boats. In that capture the house floodlights were off, so I had a better exposure on the house without the bright lights. I had to adjust in the tones and light to match, but I replaced the part of the house that was blown out before from the floodlight.
