Ghost signs on the Hotel Irvin Cobb, Paducah, Kentucky. A very dignified sans-serif on both signs. Irvin Cobb was a popular satirical writer around 1910. He was even in a few silent movies for reasons unknown.

This place cracked me up. The sign says "house for sale", not "partially built house for sale" or "we built the garage and the shed but then ran out of time, money and energy so finish it yourself" house for sale.
