Like many another forested area under a cold blanket
of snow, the Mer Bleue region is a sight to behold,
so our advice to you when in real winter climes is to
be bold, be cold, and behold!

The 7/5/2021 Macro Mondays theme it Numbers and Letters.
This is the rear sight that was on my custom built target rifle when I was a member of the United States International Rifle Team nearly 70 years ago. It's been rattling around in the back of one of my junk drawers for all these years and has become a bit corroded, so I converted it to black & white in an effort to hide the rust... Fortunately, the numbers and letters stand out clearly for the MM theme.

A rare sight around this area (Bearsden) - a number 60A bus! Taking my life in my hands standing in the central reservation of Maryhill Road though I once did similar on the Champs Elysee. Not much difference.
Following the path through the Quiraing you have to cross a little gully. I dropped low and used it as a frame for the mountain in the distance.
The strong light and shadow made this a tricky exposure, I should have bracketed but this was hand held.
Looking through the V grove and lining up with the bump of the mountain reminds me of a gun sight.

C-GFBR, an Antonov An-2PD-5, several minutes after it crashed at Greenbank Airport (CNP8) at Uxbridge, Ontario.
Soon after taking off at 0940 local, the aircraft experienced a serious oil leak that coated the cockpit windows and negated visibility. Thankfully, the sliding side windows in the cockpit were operable and allowed the highly skilled pilot to return the airplane to the 2,700-foot-long grass strip.
Upon landing at 0953, the aircraft slid uncontrollably (thanks to oil coated tires and wet grass) off the runway and into a culvert before slamming against the embankment.
The 1,000 horsepower radial engine was separated from the big biplane's firewall.
Details about the accident are available here:
Amazing how many times you can drive right by something and not see it. So it goes with this one that is in relatively plain sight, but I just hadn't truly seen it until this evening while out wandering the streets of Kamloops. Part of an ongoing project to document the incredible mural art found in this city.

Another photo of the beautiful female leopard that ran alongside the road as we were driving along. We stopped the car and she came up beside the car and hid behind a bush and began watching some Impala on the opposite side. They spotted her and she decided to just sit and wait. There were no other cars around for quite a while, so a wonderful sighting where we had her to ourselves for photos.
Nobbys Head in Newcastle, NSW, was first sighted by a European, Captain James Cook on 10th May 1770. A pier which took 38 years to construct by convict labour joined this island to the mainland. A lighthouse is located on the headland. Today there is a popular walkway up to Nobbys Head. It lies at the entrance of Newcastle Harbour.
I love the clouds in this image!
Tensioning there was a tree that immediately looked at what I was doing and probably also wanted to get into the frame! I could not refuse him!

Leaving Varanasi was difficult to do, but had to follow my plans. After, a plane trip back to Delhi and a three hour road trip, I reached Agra.
This iconic site in Agra, India has never been high on my list of things to see. Places like this seem over rated and definitely are crowded. I hate crowds and detest crowds caused by tours. People lose all of their civility when found in this environment. None the less, I braved all of this to see the marble wonder.
I got there right after it opened in the early morning hours as did a swarm of others. I must say that the white marble masterpiece is a sight to behold and I tried use the spectators to partially frame the shot. I do believe that the white marble is the most beautiful in the light of the early morning rather than later in the morning.
