What a welcome sight, as it has been decades since I last saw WM SD40 7471 in Michigan. It's back again leading the kids to Santa along the Great Lakes Central toward Ashley with the SRI train out of Owosso - November 20, 2022.

CPKC 2CWR rolls into Lake City behind a pair of SD40-2s. This GMD pair was a sight for sore eyes to say the least.

Last night (12 Aug) at 9:30 pm I received a phone call that Tidda was running at full speed on this bridge, trying to get home! There are big logging trucks going over this narrow bridge and even at night there are trucks and traffic with gaps only just long enough for a dog to run across at high speed. It was a bold and daring move but her only possible way home.

Unfortunately, once again people trying to catch her drove her to turn around and disappear into the bushes on the wrong side of the river again. I was there within 10 minutes - I was in such a rush that I even forgot my phone - but could not find her. I called her and walked around and then later sat near where she disappeared until almost 5 a.m.

Still no Tidda, but this new sighting is very good news. She is well. She is remaining in the area. She is trying to get home. She still has her leash on.

I can refocus my strategies and am really, really hoping for a reunion in the near future!!

Length of bridge 1938 feet, 591 meters.

Width 26.9 feet, 8.2 meters.

Built 1932.

Average daily traffic 6200.

One thing that I really love is the returning of the Swift at the start of May, The fastest bird in level flight at speeds just under 70 MPH and they very rarely come off the wing - Eating, Mating, sleeping and bathing on the move - This one has a Bolus of insects it is collecting for its young

However, star of the show was arguably singing Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos). That is a sound that I haven't heard in the wild for several decades. I did make a recording but haven't figured out how to download and edit it. So here is a YouTube clip of their wonderful song

Venice - Greece Cruise - 2016

I was asked to show some of my architectural images in a solo exhibition, my first, in a local Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, barber shop that hosts other art exhibitions.

It opened on 13th October 2021 and ran until 26th November 2021.

This triptych consists of 3 of the 14 images that I exhibited in 'Sight Lines'. Their locations all happen to commence with an 'H'", from left to right: Hackney Wick, Halifax and Huddersfield. All three of these photos are elsewhere in my Flickr stream, although I haven't shown the Huddersfield shot in black and white before.

Thank you those people who visited the exhibition.

These were some distant snow defenses right on the north coast of Hokkaido near to Wakkani, I decided to clime quite a slippery embankment and got this composition courtesy of my trust 70-200 lens at 200 mm coming back down was considerably easier and a lot more fun:-)

Riisitunturi National Park is in the southern part of Finnish Lapland near Posio. The park covers an area of 77 km² and represents the fell and hill landscapes in Koillismaa. There are colourful hanging bogs on the slopes of the Riisitunturi Fell and scenery over the Lakes Kitkajärvet and the forest landscape of Posio. The snowy forests wintertime are worth seeing by themselves.

The taller of the two sighting towers on Bamford Moor. They were built for the construction of the Rivelin Tunnel which runs from Ladybower to Lower Rivelin Reservoir 4.5 miles away.

after nearly a week of hard rain, it was a welcome sight!

Such a topsy turvey winter! We had a brief snowfall yesterday, but it is already quickly disappearing with the sunny blue skies today. We'll be back up in the 60's tomorrow. The mountains are getting buried in snow though, and that's the important thing for water.

Walking home from Piccadilly and rounding the corner of Knightsbridge onto Sloane Street, is Harvey Nics, and they have a sort of rain (you can see the glass drops) lightning (the chain links and neon) dramatic weather window display...and as I hit that corner it happened to be pouring down.... Second sight, given the reflection....and the diagonals really help the frame I think....

Like many another forested area under a cold blanket

of snow, the Mer Bleue region is a sight to behold,

so our advice to you when in real winter climes is to

be bold, be cold, and behold!

The 7/5/2021 Macro Mondays theme it Numbers and Letters.

This is the rear sight that was on my custom built target rifle when I was a member of the United States International Rifle Team nearly 70 years ago. It's been rattling around in the back of one of my junk drawers for all these years and has become a bit corroded, so I converted it to black & white in an effort to hide the rust... Fortunately, the numbers and letters stand out clearly for the MM theme.

Exploring Georgetown, Penang

First sighting of a male Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker in our area this year.

We interrupt this broadcast...

Another selection of images using in-camera multiple-exposure and small camera movements pointing at a particular scene. I have chosen them to cover a variety of subjects to demonstrate some of the interesting results you can get. They’re not necessarily the best or the most interesting.

My hope is to encourage you to try playing about with the technique yourself. It’s great fun, and some of the results are interesting.

Most are 5-image MExs which is a nice balance between detail and change. Most are taken on average blend mode which is a good place to start though Dark can be more effective for bright backgrounds (you may need to increase the exposure).

All are developed and processed in DxO Photolab 5 with no further work.

--

This a 5-image MEx using a twist movement. A really curious result. That's a full-sized lane though now it looks like a horsetrack.

The great thing about this one is that you can play Ccount-the-pheasants! Go on! You just know you want to: zoom in and start counting ;)

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the images :)
