Sherlock Holmes shadows in Baker Street.

Very kind lady modelled for the shot, quite tricky as there is only one platform so you cannot shoot from the other side - wide-angle lens worked reasonably well without too much distortion but I wanted to get both Sherlock shadows in the composition but be in front of the seated model.

Of course, like any famous guy does...established a bar/restaurant !!

His buddies are Justin, Ashton K., Bruce Willis, etc etc...

I believe that, sometimes, you can see ART "already" even if the piece is still not yet finished ;)

We popped out into the Forest this afternoon to looking for a fence for the Smile on Saturday's theme. I knew the spot where I wanted to go, but what I had forgotten was that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is buried there. He bought a second home in the New Forest and it is where he used the area for inspiration, and, did research for the novel The White Company. As you can see visitors have left all sorts of 'gifts'.

The detailed and ornate London Transport livery applied to Class 20 No. 20277 'Sherlock Holmes' does kindle memories of the lavish designs applied to fairground and circus vehicles in the past. Still, it is different, and all the better for it. The 'Chopper' is seen departing from Kidderminster Town on 16th May 2021 heading the SVR Spring Diesel Bash 1100 to Bridgnorth. Class 40 No. 40106 'Atlantic Conveyor' can be seen on the blocks, having earlier headed the inward working. Copyright Photograph John Whitehouse - all rights reserved

London (United Kingdom)

this man and a woman both dressed in period costumes where walking around Cambridge market Saturday morning at quit a pace ,people didn't know what to make of them at all.

I thought I'd try something a bit different, so here's my Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson standing on the footpath outside their lodgings, 221b Baker Street.

I am also currently working on figures based on the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and the novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of Four, The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Valley of Fear.

Next up is a Scandal in Bohemia.

I'd love to hear what you think.

I started reading a few pages of Sherlock Holmes every morning before work. It's a nice way to relax before the storm.

"Loki, look at this giraffe I've built out of toy blocks in ten minutes."

*mumble* "Looks nothing like a giraffe. You did not even use the instructions."

"Yes, I saw the instructions, but I wanted to have a go without. Only people with mundane brains need to be shown how. Not like us, Loki."

*grumble mumble*

(This, of course, is a sequel to this photo: The Build)

The victim lay at their feet. "Elementary dear Watson. I'll wager that the cheese was not alone in being bitten tonight!"

Je ne vais jamais à Londres sans rendre hommage à Sherlock Holmes, au 221b Baker Street. Ce printemps 1999 n'avait pas fait exception.

Sherlock Holmes/ Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Statue

This statue was erected in memory of author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who was born on 22 May 1859 close to where the statue stands in Picardy Place, Edinburgh - it commemorates the author and his famous detective, Sherlock Holmes.

It was unveiled on June 24, 1991, removed in 2018 whilst tram works were undertaken on the street, then refurbished and re-instated in 2023

The statue was sculpted by Gerald Ogilvie Laing

Actually, maybe it's just the rum.

The British Rail (BR) Class 20, otherwise known as an English Electric Type 1, is a class of diesel-electric locomotive. In total, 228 locomotives in the class were built by English Electric between 1957 and 1968, the large number being in part because of the failure of other early designs in the same power range to provide reliable locomotives

The last built class 20, number 20227, has been used extensively on the London Underground network. In the mid-2000s it was painted in Metropolitan maroon livery and named “Sir John Betjeman” by the Class 20 Locomotive Society as acknowledgement of this work. It was repainted in a special ‘modern taste’ LUL-based livery, to mark the London Underground 150 celebrations but has now been repainted, again into Metropolitan maroon, but this time renamed “Sherlock Holmes” and carries a ‘221B’ shedplate
