Today’s theme “Silhouette” has been a very challenging one for me. I simply didn't know where to start to photograph a silhouette. I wouldn't have been able to participate if it wasn't for a dear friend’s advice and tips. This is a beautiful reminder of what MM is all about, a most friendly community where one can share and grow their love of photography. Wishing you all a HMM :0)

Thank you once again dear Silke for being awesome :0)

One of my favourite fictional novels is called the Hound of the Baskervilles by Conan Doyle. In fact I love all of Sherlock Holme's classical compilations and the latest of tv shows and movies twist on these wonderful characters. Can't you just see Sherlock Holmes searching for clues in the night?

The Sherlock Holmes Pub has been around since 1957 and boasts a re-creation of the Holmes and Watson Baker Street rooms study next to the restaurant. The inn which used to be known as the Northumberland Arms was rechristened The Sherlock Holmes Pub, with the support of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s family. The pub was filled with various artifacts and items such as Dr. Watson’s old service revolver, original cartoons and the stuffed and mounted head of the Hound of the Baskervilles.

221B Baker Street in London, England, UK is the address of the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes created by author Arthur Conan Doyle. Interestingly in the time Doyle was publishing his Sherlock Holmes novels, this address would have been non existent. The numbers on Baker Street did not go as high as 221. At that time it was a section of Marylebone Road but known by locals as Upper Baker Street. The location now has a museum dedicated to Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes and The Mysterious Case of the Media that would not bark

Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable must be the truth. But to do that you must consider the evidence.

'Smokers' were asked to give their most bestest rendition of Mr Sherlock Holmes (which has no connection to Lomokev, his book or anything else for that matter… completely random).

I am spending time down in London doing some archive photography at the British Dental Association Museum. On the way I passed through Baker Street. I decided to take a picture of the outside of the Sherlock Holmes Museum. The doorman was suitably dressed for the tourists such as me.

I wasn't after a stunningly colourful light show for this photograph. I wanted something that really expressed the bleakness and drama of Dartmoor but yet retained a definitely romanticised feel. And yes, I had "The Hound Of The Baskervilles" in mind too.

...whatever remains, however improbable must be the truth.

Magnification loupe used for replacing tiny eyeglass screws was used to represent magnifying glass for inspection of evidence "clues" as per the detective, Sherlock Holmes. The "evidence" pieces are 3/16 inch. The entire image is under 2 and 3/4 inches. Photo taken on black vinyl covered card table with most difficult part being to achieve focus and avoid reflection.
