This vessel in a boat yard in Runnymede appears to be from the Shell Tern Oil Rig. Not sure if it is some sort of life boat.
They are moving the land out past the old Shell Haven A & B jetties for the port development by pumping from the bottom of the Thames.
Several Decades ago, the Shell Oil Company, put out a number of card series. They also sold albums to put these cards in. Everytime you went to Shell for petrol, or anything else, they gave you some cards. The idea was to collect the whole lot, and generally they were most obliging in allowing you to go through the box, to get the cards you were missing.
I only have the Transport Card series left, the others have been long thrown out.

Vintage Shell ranch-style gas station, 1975 Nicholasville Road, Lexington KY - Oct 2009. Still a Shell, although as a convenience store. Listed in 1960s city directory operating as Witt's Shell Service.
Half the fun of making mosaics is having all sorts of pieces to choose and combine, like these sculpted shells and sea stars. Although these would look nice in a bowl or scattered across a table, too.

Three strobes. One on camera DIY ring flash adapter at 1/4 as a fill. Adapter eats about 3-4 stops. So its actually about 1/16-1/32. Camera left gridded strobe as key light at 1/8. Under the shell with grid at full power for inner glow effect.
Discovered in 1835, Margate's Shell Grotto is an astonishing find; 21 metres of winding passages decorated with 4.6 million shells. The walls are covered in images of gods and goddesses, trees of life and patterns of whelks, mussels and oysters. Some think it is an ancient Pagan grotto, others that it is simply an ornate Regency folly; but with no definitive explanation or history, the Shell Grotto is Kent's greatest mystery.

I was digging through a layer of loose sand looking for pieces of opalised wood and didn't think anything of the cockle shells until I noticed the broken edge of one was glassy, translucent and brown.... not opaque white like a normal shell.
These are extremely rare and I only ever found a few pieces. On several subsequent trips I have never re-located that shell-bearing sandy layer again :(

I saw the girl as a modern Venus, therefore I used a shell. (like the painting of Botticelli, the birth of Venus).
I made some pictures of the shell ( I store this thing somewhere on my a bookshelf). I used the magic lasso to cut it. I also had to cut the airoplanes from two different pictures (pfff, this is so time-consuming). The shell exist out of two copies,The top layer is partly removed, to make place for the girl and the water. The droplets are made of a special brush in Photoshop Elements. I blurred the original picture and put it on on 'screen'. The bottom layer is a photo of a darkblue sky with clouds.
