The beach was riddled with the dead husks of crabs, obviously the remains from a more seasonal and primal Father's Day buffet. Along this stretch, they were mostly whole, but further along the beach, the rocks were covered in a fine dusting of carapaces that had been smashed repeatedly against the shore.

poaching, or gently simmering food in liquid, is ideal for fragile foods like eggs, poultry, fish and fruit, which tend to fall apart or dry out. however, it is crucial to keep the heat low and keep the poaching time to a minimum to help preserve the food's flavor.

The aquaculturalists here drive bizarre, noisy steampunk-style vehicles along the causeways loaded with, I think, oysters.
