Chum salmon at the end of their long amazing journey from sea to their ancestral gravel in the same creek they were born in. They deposit egs and sperm in a redd or nest they have cleared gravel from and then they die, all energy expended.

Shellfishermen and women worked the early morning low tide in Brewster today. Shellfishing license holders in the town of Brewster benefit from the town's "put and take" oyster program, which is open on occasional days during the late Fall months.

Lots of seafood sellers have a bamboo pallets of mixed seafood available - fish, clams, shrimp, squid, octopus and some other unidentified things. Maybe used for seafood stew?

We bought this from an old woman by the sea in Fukuoka. Non of my japanese hosts seemed too keen to eat them, so I ended up eating nine. They were still alive when they went under the grill...

The Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, in partnership with Trout Lodge and the shellfish farm Jones Farm, is developing a shellfish hatchery at the former state Department of Fish and Wildlife Point Whitney facility near Brinnon. The first group of Pacific oysters seeds currently are being reared there as the site undergoes more upgrades to make room for geoduck and manila clam seed programs.
