This is over 40 images and stacked them in Photoshop to get the star trails. (blend mode to lighten) Unfortunately I didn't get out my compass to be sure I was pointing to the North Star so they weren't circular. And I had to use the new "dehaze" in Lightroom as moisture accumulated on my lens during the 20 minutes or so. Things happen at night! Taken during a workshop with Brady Cabe.

Abandoned staircase at Ventana Grill in Pismo Beach.
This landmark has been photographed often by some great photographers. But the staircase has always caught my eye - so here's my take on it (Such as it is - with a bit of wild processing).
This stairway is located right next to the Ventana Grill Restaurant in Shell Beach. The Ventana Grill was formerly known as Pelican Point and before that the Cliffs. I've actually been on this staircase in it's heyday back in the 80's and 90's when it was attached to the land. Now you can only get to it by kayaking in. There are plans to refurbish it.

Vivid sunset colors bathe the world in a mystic glow. This is a recently "remastered" version of this picture I took back in 2014.

Shell Beach is a beach in the Shark Bay region of Western Australia, located 45 km (28 mi) south-east of Denham.
Situated on the northeastern side of the Taillefer Isthmus along the L'Haridon Bight, the beach is covered with shells for a 60 km (37 mi) stretch to a depth of 7–10 m (23–33 ft). It is one of only two beaches in the world made entirely from shells.

I love watching pelicans soar, dive, land, take off, shake in the air...etc. This one did as I asked and flew past the color layers of the Pacific Ocean and the sky. Shell Beach, CA.
Frenetic activity, late this afternoon, by all four peregrine fledglings attacking any possible prey . . . and I was afraid it might be me . . . phew!

As the sun slowly disappeared beyond the Mediterranean horizon, the waves rolled across a beach covered with millions of tiny seashells. A lone child watching the sunset added a quiet human moment to an already unforgettable evening. Nature has a remarkable way of turning simple moments into lasting memories.
we spent Christmas day boating with friends, with one quick stop on a beach so I could write my Christmas message :) It was a perfect day and hope your holidays have been special also!!

Warp Speed in Shell Beach
I'm loving how early the Milky Way has been visible the last week, even at the end of my street. This is a single exposure at ISO 3200, f2.8, 15 seconds. I started the shot at 70mm and zoomed out to 24mm by the end to get this effect in the sky.
I had fun for a few hours photographing birds at the Látrabjarg cliff, but then the rain came back. I ended up camping a short way up the road where there was a long and windy beach to walk in the evening between the showers.
This was the only area I visited in Iceland where the beaches weren't black volcanic material. The beach here is made of shell fragments and is called a golden sand shell beach: stuckiniceland.com/west_of_iceland/two-very-un-icelandic-...
