Song of the Barren Orange Tree
BY FEDERICO GARCÍA LORCA
TRANSLATED BY W. S. MERWIN
Woodcutter.
Cut my shadow from me.
Free me from the torment
of seeing myself without fruit.
Why was I born among mirrors?
The day walks in circles around me,
and the night copies me
in all its stars.
I want to live without seeing myself.
And I will dream that ants
and thistleburrs are my
leaves and my birds.
Woodcutter.
Cut my shadow from me.
Free me from the torment
of seeing myself without fruit.
The Shadow Consecrates
The shadow consecrates the stone
Between the altar and the bone:
A tangible absence.
I stand without; within they sing,
My soul and theirs all spiralling
Towards some Presence.
I see the Light, I hear the Call
Between the lychgate and the wall,
And keep my distance.
The shadow weaves the loom of loss:
A hollow tomb, an empty cross
Raised like a monstrance.
The shadow consecrates the bone
That lies beneath the lichened stone
And I am Present.
The congregation sing within
By gargoyle’s tail and angel’s wing
And I am Absent.
Poem by Giles Watson, 2011.

Une demoiselle est apparue proche du carrousel , elle a fais un apparition assez funèbre . Oiseau de Mauvais Augure ? Peut - Etre . Qui est cet être étrange qui erre autours du manège enchantée ?
A lady appeared near the carousel, she appeared quite do a funeral. Bird of ill omen? May - be. Who is this strange creature that roams the arena goshawks Magic?
I don't like this photo.
These past few weeks I've been a bit lonely with how things go with my life. I feel like I'm doing all sorts of wrong things. My exams are not really good, unlike before. I try to study, but I just can't get those things inside my head. I'm afraid I might lose my scholarship and I still have a year left of school. I'm scared and exhausted at the same time. I feel really out of everything.
Are those shadows from their past? Rainbow coloured shadows? That's cool to have! lol ;-)
For Our Daily Challenge - Shadows
I like the shadow cast here by my felted wool stones. The mossy green color and worn greyed wood are two of my most favorite things.

find beauty not only in the thing itself but in the pattern of the shadows, the light and dark which that thing provides.

This is a kind of a vision - twilight and shadow of the falling night with its ancient mysteries strange and hostile to human kind. I'm going to bed. Good night, see you tomorrow.

Shadow became sick this weekend. She was taken to the vet this morning and as he was trying to diagnose the problem, she passed away. According to the vet it was congestive heart failure. She was a great dog, always excited to see you and eager for a good belly rub. She will definitely be missed.
52 Weeks 2012 - Week 4 - Theme: Shadows
Wasn't sure on what to shoot for this theme. By the time I get home it usually gets dark and I have to resort to artificial light. I was walking around the house trying to find my subject and decided to give it a try with a plant that usually sits on the mantle in our living room. I've put a piece of seamless white paper on the floor, got 2 SB-600 @1/4 power shooting up into a ceiling to get somewhat even light (I still see some spots where white should've been washed out more) on the paper. Raised SB-800 @ full power on a stand as main light. Climbed on a ladder and shot a few frames while using live view to compose. I tried to make shadow my main subject and bring up some dimensionality (is this the right word?) with it, while reducing perception of the depth of the actual plant in the image. I'm not even sure that last sentence makes any sense.
