Walking over a small bridge at Ynys, Gwynedd, North Wales.
Ynys Giftan Island is situated in the Dwyrd
Estuary in a rural location overlooking the
picturesque town of Portmeirion and provides
panoramic views of stunning coastline,
mountains and the Irish Sea. The Island is
approximately 3 miles from the popular town
of Harlech and 10 miles from the town of
Porthmadog. It is accessible by boat at high tide
and at low tide by foot, tractor or other suitable
vehicle for traveling across the Estuary.
One of only 43 of Britain’s unbridged tidal
islands, Ynys Giftan is in the wide Afon
Dwyryd estuary near the village of Talsarnau
in Gwynedd, North Wales. The Island has been
unoccupied for many years and has a unique
history. It is said to have been gifted to the
current Lord Harlech’s ancestors by Queen Anne
in the early 1700s, hence it became known as
Ynys Giftan (‘Anne’s Gift Island’).
The Island is located within the Snowdonia
National Park, an area steeped in culture and
local history and a hugely popular tourist
destination noted for its great beauty, wonderful
walks, rides and beeches.
Datura bloom with leaf shadows from a yellow bird of paradise tree! Happily grown from seeds. Have a datura collection should you want to see. flic.kr/s/aHsmQ9c3hY
As the sun sets on the Tamar Valley long shadows appear in the landscape. If you enlarge this shot you can see the East Tamar Highway winding its way from Launceston to George Town. In the foreground there are football fields and cattle grazing.
It was Sunday morning in June
Trees in my garden provide shades and shelters
I like the shadow paintings of the tree
That shadow areas are relatively flat and dark
The walls have these paintings on sunny days
Sunlight paintings on the white house
I like the dark shadow paintings from the sun
The shadows have no higher saturation of color.
Hlif

our shadows will be ,probably, rowing in our favorite places many years after our missing. sometimes they wonder where and how they want in our presence
Shadow walking
Birds are talking
On the Winter breeze
Shadows spreading
Down they are heading
Under the rising trees
Shadows fall,without a sound
On the wild. waiting ground
Where they kiss, the fallen leaves
Loved the shadows the hangers projected, people probably wonder when I was more interested in the coat rack than the art exhibit. Sometimes it just happens.
Setting sun creates nice shadows in these hills on the eastern side of the Bitterroot Valley in western Montana.

I captured this at the Great Sand Dunes NP in Colorado on a Partly Cloudy afternoon. As I was watching the light and shadows move across the landscape it reminded me of an old silent B&W movie.
Thanks for stopping by
Another rusty image from the farmyard in Lane End. I had to wait what seemed like an age for the sun!
