Seljalandsfoss was one of the first waterfall photos I saw of Iceland and upon seeing it I was amazed and knew I had to visit one day. So to finally see it in person was definitely a dream come true! One of the unique features of this waterfall is you can walk behind it, however when I went in March the ice was starting to melt and we were discouraged from walking behind or risk getting impaled by falling ice shards. Ah well, all the reason to visit Iceland again!

Some amusing things that happened here:

1. There was a small Icelandic wedding happening that day in front of the waterfall with the guys dressed in suits, the bride, and bridesmaids in their matching dresses. It was probably right around 32F/0C that day so I salute them for toughing it out.

2. There was a girl who tried to follow her much taller boyfriend in jumping across one of the side streams. She thought she made it across but then fell backwards into the water and was soaked from head to toe. Again it was 32F/0C that day :) At least the boyfriend was a gentleman and held up a towel to cover the door while she changed in the car later.

Not much special to say with this one...just waterfalls and foliage, however, it does look better when you view it large by typing "L".

On the road towards the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. In the distance, you can see several waterfalls that follow one another along the cliff face. Seljalandsfoss is the one the right and the largest one.

Located in the South Region in Iceland right by Route 1, Seljalandsfoss is one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland. The waterfall drops 60 m. One of the interesting things about this waterfall is that visitors can walk behind it into a small cave.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my pictures. Your views, comments, faves and support are greatly appreciated

Espectacular y indispensable.

Undoubtedly the most peculiar waterfall in iceland because it is the only one that you can see and get wet from the front and there is also a path made in which you go around behind the waterfall and although you get very wet it is incredible to see the image from the rear. Spectacular and indispensable.

Espectacular i indispensable.

Located on the western edge of the Eyjafjöll volcano, the Seljalandsfoss waterfall comes from the Seljalandsá river, which is formed by the melting ice of the Eyjafjallajökull. Once it reaches the edge of the plateau, the water falls into the void over a chasm for around 65 metres.

one of the most spectacular waterfalls of iceland. It is great view from there but it is a bit difficult for photographers, because it`s wet - so wet.

One of the most photographed waterfalls in iceland (but there are many), and normally often from the other side. This is easy to understand because here it hardly is possible to keep your lens dry (which I didn't succeed), and even more difficult now because there was a strong wind.

Side view of the great waterfall of Seljalandsfoss. I think I remember that this was the point where more water did not come on top. We started to go around behind the waterfall.

The culminating part of the great waterfall of Seljalandsfoss, when after going around the waterfall you come to be completely in the back and can see the water fall from a very unusual, but exceptional place. At times like these I want to travel.

Side view and at low speed of the spectacular waterfall of Seljalandsfoss, you can see people as we turn around from behind and come out very wet and marveling at the view we have been able to enjoy. Impossible not to have this waterfall on a possible trip to Iceland.

One of several spectacular, arguably the most spctacular, waterfall at the base of Eyjafjall volcano.

This is the popular Seljalandsfoss. I was really looking forward for shooting on this place. I think this place must be fantastic for a night capture. Because in June it gets not really dark in Iceland. The sun is just walking on the horizon behind the waterfall and you have 3 hours of sunset/sunrise light. So I spent two nights on this place, waiting for the sun, but never saw her. But anyway, I hope you like the shot.

We didn't find a pot of gold or even Skittles at the end of this Rainbow. Just the mighty Seljalandsfoss (it was more than enough) :) The person standing in the bottom right corner helps to give you a sense of scale for this beautiful waterfall.

Seljalandsfoss is located in the South Region in Iceland right by Route 1 and the road that leads to Þórsmörk. The waterfall drops 60 m and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull. Visitors can walk behind the falls into a small cave.

This is a second version taken behind the waterfall. I was very lucky that the sky was cloudy this evening.
