Com o sucesso dos times de futebol da capital, Belo Horizonte cada vez mais se torna atrativa para a prática deste segmento esportivo. Desde novembro de 2014, por intermédio do Rotary Clube, o jovem Rayato Shmizu, de 17 anos, da cidade de Ozaka, no Japão, escolheu BH como destino de seu intercâmbio cultural. Matriculado na Escola Estadual Governador Milton Campos, o Estadual Central, no primeiro ano do ensino médio, o estudante se inscreveu no programa BH Descobrindo Talentos no Futebol no contraturno escolar. Ao todo, 1.315 alunos estão inscritos no programa, com diversos núcleos por toda a cidade.

A delegation from Thailand attended the High Level Segment of the Maputo Review Conference on a Mine-Free World.
Voradet Viravakin, Ambassador of Thailand to Mozambique signed the Maputo +15 Declaration on behalf of his delegation at the Third Review Conference of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
Several States addressed the conference during the high-level segment, while other delegations signed or witnessed the signing of the Maputo +15 Declaration.

On Wednesday, October 22, the Governmental Segment of the "Protecting Civic Space and the Right to Access Resources" project was held. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, and moderated by Secretary General of the Community of Democracies, Maria Leissner. Representatives of Warsaw-based embassies of the OSCE region met with United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, Maina Kiai, and discussed with him his most recent remarks and reports, as well as conclusions from the civil society segment, held in May 2014 in Warsaw.

Although Lost Creek Wilderness was a bit of a disappointment the day before, the wilderness would have the chance to redeem itself. I woke to the coldest morning yet. It was 42f and although the rain had stopped, the vegetation was wet and unfortunately I had to walk through it. Needless to say I was glad I had my cold weather gear with me. The sun was out but the trail is on the shady side in the morning.
The hiking through the meadow was easy, not steep at all. I saw plenty of flowers and some strange pits with logs across them. I don't know what they were for. Altogether it was about 6 miles of hiking through the meadow including what I had hiked earlier. A couple of miles later is Segment 5 at Long Gulch Trailhead and shortly thereafter is Lost Creek Wilderness, part 2.
This is where the trail really gets good, not just good ... great. Awesome views, sweeping panoramas, pleasant meadows and forests. Each time I thought something was fantastic, the next view was even better. Into the woods and out of the woods. The weather was very cooperative as well .... during the day, anyway.
Every Colorado Trail hiker knows the thing to be concerned about are thunderstorms. You can count on them nearly every day and you don't want to be exposed and definitely not above treeline. I hadn't been above treeline yet, but after a 20 mile day, I chose a campsite which was exposed, overlooking the valley and the town of Jefferson. It was a nice campsite where I could see the clouds and inevitable storm coming. Fortunately, I was able to finish dinner before it started.
Segment 7 begins at the Goldhill Trailhead near Breckenridge, CO. Access to Breckenridge is easy via a free bus ride. The Summit Stage bus stop is not far from the trailhead.
I was hiking toward Leadville where I had left my car at the Leadville Hostel. Ownership of the Leadville Hostel has changed since I stayed there. It was $25 for a night in the bunkroom where I somehow managed to get a few hours of sleep despite some snorers. It was a very nice hostel; I would be surprised if it wasn't still.
I took the Lake County Link (pay $5 on bus) from Leadville to Frisco Station where I picked up the Summit Stage. I was hiking by 0900 on a bright, sun shiny day. The first several miles were fairly easy although mostly exposed. Evidence of the pine beatle devastation was clearly visible once again.
It was an awesome hike. The views are spectacular. Maybe the best I've seen (to this point) even better than GA Pass. Once above treeline, it is sidehill with some extremely steep areas. There were some patches of melting snow along the way.
There were quite a few CT hikers out on this day. After hiking about 12 miles which included up and over the high point of 12,495 feet, I stopped for the night. I was just short of the end of the segment.
