Drill in centre.
Looks good, till you zero in on the centre. Notice the Black Points.
I concentrated on sanding two opposite segments thinking it would not be noticed. I should have sanded them all evenly. Doh!
With the narrowest diameter this wheel will be seen at (11mm), the stripes are going be noticeably uneven. the white stripes will be uniform at 1mm, the black stripes will vary from 1.5mm to 2mm, I'm Guessing.
Accuracy is a fine art.
Of course, after the Pass the trail starts to climb. There were a couple of short bumps where I crossed several small creeks and piped springs, and took in some awesome views of South Park. Eventually, I started seeing this pyramidal monolith in the distance. It kept getting closer and closer. At Jefferson Creek, the trail starts a steady, but not too steep, 6 mile, uphill climb.
As it turns out, the trail passes right in front of the impressive, mountainous monolith, Mount Guyot, at Georgia Pass. The Colorado Trail also acquires the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail here. Georgia Pass is spectacular at 11,880 feet. I'm not sure that it is officially above treeline, but there are no trees. While up there, I met a couple of mountain goats and took some pictures of the outstanding views. I didn't linger as it was very windy (temp in the 60s though) and once again it looked as though it was about to rain.
As I began my descent, shortly thereafter is an intersection with a dirt road and wouldn't you know it, a vehicle showed up just as I did. A dirt road in the middle of nowhere, at over 11,000 feet, and I had to wait to cross the road! After the vehicle passed, I carefully looked both ways to ensure another vehicle was not coming.
Today was a long day, over 20 miles. The hiking wasn't too bad, but alot of uphill. Georgia Pass was certainly the highlight. I stopped for the night at North Fork Swan River. Once again it didn't start raining until after dinner. The night was otherwise uneventful.
This little guy has over 160 legs.

It is a millipede, a rather skinny, small and long (in relation to it's body).
This is a bizzare one, I have never seen this.
This might be a new species.

London's Waterloo International station no longer hosts Eurostar traffic (inexplicably running no train traffic at all). It's still highly impressive though, despite the ever increasing rust.

Day 1 Spring Creek Pass to near Yurt
After a couple of days of acclimating and doing some dayhikes to finish Segment 11, I resumed hiking where I left off in 2018 at Segment 22.
Segment 22 begins at Spring Creek Pass just off of US149. Lake City (17 miles) and Creede (33 miles) can be accessed from here from different directions. The plan this year was to hike from Spring Creek Pass to Molas Pass, approximately 53 miles, much of which is above treeline. A doable distance. However, I did not use a shuttle. Instead, I parked at each trailhead and planned to loop back to my car, via dirt roads and other trails. This added some logistics but seemed easier than using a shuttle and just hiking back to my car. Hiking was 53 miles between the passes but driving was 165 miles and would have been a very long day not to mention the cost of a shuttle.
I spent the night at the Gunnison KOA and then drove to the trailhead. I started hiking around noon. The first 100 feet were the most difficult. I was out of breath quickly but that didn't last long since the trail follows an old road. There were many mud puddles to dodge.
As usual, the trail eventually left the jeep road and began to follow a single track and some rock cairns up and over Jarosa Mesa. It was not difficult to traverse but was exposed. Clouds were threatening everywhere. I did have some hail for a few moments but fortunately it did not last long.

random spot to Segment 11 Interlaken Trailhead
Twin Lakes reservoir comprises two lakes. The trail crosses a dam at the far side of the larger lake. There are numerous recreation activities here. Camping possibilities are also abundant. Interlaken Historic Resort is located on the far side.
Phone battery was almost dead but just enough to reserve a room for Friday night at Inn the Clouds hostel in Leadville. Tonight I camped near Mount Massive Trailhead. Camping is allowed almost everywhere on Halfmoon Creek Road. The night before I climbed Elbert a few years ago, I camped along the road so I had a spot in mind that overlooked the creek. Unfortunately, someone turned in there just as I drove up. Oh well, I found another spot.
14.8 trail miles for the day; +1 to hike back to my car.

There are between 1.5 and 2 million images uploaded here to Flickr every day. Then there is Instagram, 500px, and Imgur to name but a few more sites hosting pictures. And there are many other places to view the photogrpahs taken in their millions every day.
I'm sure that I am not the only one who has wondered what, if any, significance my pictures have in the great scheme of photographic life, and felt at times that there is nothing new in photography, and that I am doing no more than reinventing the wheel with my own efforts.. Despite that, I have striven to try and produce at least a few original images for my Photostream, and spent many hours trying to think up new and original ideas.
The idea behind this image is to take a fairly ordinary scene, but just focus on a segment of it, not in the way of a close up or macro, but showing a larger view of that scene.
Thinking about it, a photograph is simply a segment of time, captured in an image, and I wondered if it would further enhance a photo by segmenting the space, as well as the time aspect.
So this image, and the others like it are the results of putting the idea into practice. And I am pleased enough with the results of this experiment to look out for more images like these. Perhaps it may even turn into a project. Of course, It is not a totally unique way of presenting an image, but it is the doing of it intentionally, that I have not seen before.
