Más de mil millones de dólares invirtió el Ministerio de Inclusión Económica y Social en atender las demandas sociales que por derecho tienen los diversos segmentos de la población ecuatoriana en el 2011, informó la titular del Portafolio, @XimePonceLeon, en el marco del evento de rendición de cuentas del Sector Social del Gobierno Nacional.
En su intervención, la secretaria de Estado, al hablar de los diez principales logros de su gestión, comenzó por enumerar al programa del Bono de Desarrollo Humano (BDH) que tiene una cobertura mayor a 1’.200.000 personas, tras las depuraciones que ha tenido el rol de beneficiarios, a fin de que el mismo llegue a las familias que realmente lo necesitan y puedan ser corresponsables, en este programa se invierte 480 millones de dólares anuales.
Habló de las pensiones asistenciales para 536 mil Adultos Mayores como una retribución al trabajo de toda una vida de las personas que nunca estuvieron en el sistema de aseguramiento social, y 106 mil personas con discapacidad, asà como 28 mil menores en la misma situación, con un egreso de 38 millones de dólares. Como tercer logro se refirió al trabajo por la erradicación de la mendicidad, en donde se ha logrado reducir más de un 50% la incidencia del problema, anunciando, asà mismo, el camino hacia su erradicación completa, la inversión 2011 fue de 1.8 millones de dólares, señaló.
La reducción de la prevalencia de la anemia en 20, 9 por ciento de los niños y niñas atendidos en 11 mil centros infantiles de buen vivir, es otro logró importante del MIES y del Gobierno Nacional, logro sobre el cual también enfatizó la Ministra Coordinadora Doris Soliz, al indicar que en la iniciativa se ha invertido 2, 7 millones de dólares.
La Ministra Ponce resaltó la gestión en desarrollo infantil integral en donde se trabaja en la atención de cerca de medio millón de niñas y niños menores de cinco años de edad en todo el paÃs, introduciendo el componente de corresponsabilidad conjunta entre el Estado, la comunidad y la familia, y la aplicación del nuevo modelo de gestión en base a estándares de calidad, aquà se destacan, por un lado la recuperación del rol del Estado y por el otro, la profesionalización en la atención con la contratación de profesionales parvularias para todos los centros infantiles, en este programa se invierte 138 millones de dólares.
Agregó a los logros la labor de los 83 creados Centros de Protección de Derechos, en Protección Especial, con la mejora de los servicios y el trabajo con mÃstica que se hace en los centros, con la inversión de 10.7 millones de dólares.
Uno de los logros que dio lustre fue la tan ansiada erradicación del trabajo infantil en basurales, en donde se sacó de este peligroso mal a 2.166 niños y niñas, mediante una labor puesta en marcha en 183 cantones, con un presupuesto de 540 mil dólares.
Finalmente la titular del MIES se refirió a la EconomÃa Popular y Solidaria y al impuso dado desde el Portafolio del MIES a los actores de esta nueva economÃa prevista y fundamentada ya en la Constitución. En el sector se han invertido 61. 83 millones de dólares en compras públicas a pequeños productores.
Agregó que el MIES avanza a pasos firmes innovando programas como el caso de la protección a lo largo del ciclo de vida, la reducción de la vulnerabilidad social y de la pobreza. Retos que aspira se irán cumpliendo rápidamente en este Gobierno.

Next...needle felting
Season 2, Episode DUCT-220 of "Uncommon Threads" television program (US) on the DIY Network and HGTV (first aired on January 29, 2007).
This episode features a needle felted version of Van Gogh's Starry Night, from dying the wool, felting and embellishing with beads.
The crafters are Dharia McGrew of Skeintily Clad, Dayna Mankowski of the Crafty Scientist and Sarah Brueck Stallings of Three Cat Nite. All three are appearing as members of the Artisan Women of Worcester.

Afternoon thunderstorms are fairly routine on the Colorado Trail. Of course, it is not a good idea to be above the treeline during a storm. When I started this section hike, afternoon thunderstorms were in the forecast for today. With several miles of high elevation hiking I wanted to ensure I was not above treeline, so I had been pushing myself to hike just a little further each day.
All of the extra effort to beat the storms paid off. I even got up and was hiking before dawn and was able to enjoy the sunrise over the distant mountains. However, sometimes forecasts are wrong. It was cloudy most of the day but with sunshine. I did feel a few drops, but not a t-storm.
The 1st few miles were fairly easy and through the woods. I found a flowing spring early on and was able to enjoy a cup of coffee.
As an Appalachian Trail Maintainer, I’ve always appreciated the efforts of other Trail Maintainers. Most hikers probably don’t even consider what it takes to maintain a trail, until they actually participate in some trail work. It usually involves hiking many miles while carrying a tool or two. Then they work all day, moving large rocks, digging new trail or removing blowdowns, etc. It is enjoyable but difficult work. I didn’t encounter any maintainers today, but I did see a small sign identifying who was responsible for this section. Thank-You for all your hard work!
Just before 9:00, I was soon to leave the relative safety of the woods and enter the High Country. I was at the Highline Trail intersection to include the Indian Trail Ridge. For Colorado Trail hikers who start in Denver, the trail culminates in a stunning, high alpine hike across a narrow ridge. For those starting in Durango, it is a quick introduction to spectacular views and incredible scenery but also difficult and challenging terrain.

We just walked part of the Waitukubuli National Trail, Segment 2, Bellevue Chopin to Tete Morne via Morpo.
The whole trail goes from Soufriere Estate to Bellevue Chopin.

Each segment was made from 2- 8ft pieces of flexible 3/8 inch plywood connected with a wooded brace. The edge is hand routed.

This slat ring segmented bowl was made of a total of 195 pieces of walnut and maple (excluding the top band) that were glued together in a painstaking process. It measures 6.75 inches x 6.75 inches.
The picture in the middle is a Map of an Island. It is also the floating bottom.
I think this will be my final Sketch-Up plan. Now to get down to some woodwork.
Although, ... It may be a bit cluttered, I could leave every other picture panel empty.

Although Lost Creek Wilderness was a bit of a disappointment the day before, the wilderness would have the chance to redeem itself. I woke to the coldest morning yet. It was 42f and although the rain had stopped, the vegetation was wet and unfortunately I had to walk through it. Needless to say I was glad I had my cold weather gear with me. The sun was out but the trail is on the shady side in the morning.
The hiking through the meadow was easy, not steep at all. I saw plenty of flowers and some strange pits with logs across them. I don't know what they were for. Altogether it was about 6 miles of hiking through the meadow including what I had hiked earlier. A couple of miles later is Segment 5 at Long Gulch Trailhead and shortly thereafter is Lost Creek Wilderness, part 2.
This is where the trail really gets good, not just good ... great. Awesome views, sweeping panoramas, pleasant meadows and forests. Each time I thought something was fantastic, the next view was even better. Into the woods and out of the woods. The weather was very cooperative as well .... during the day, anyway.
Every Colorado Trail hiker knows the thing to be concerned about are thunderstorms. You can count on them nearly every day and you don't want to be exposed and definitely not above treeline. I hadn't been above treeline yet, but after a 20 mile day, I chose a campsite which was exposed, overlooking the valley and the town of Jefferson. It was a nice campsite where I could see the clouds and inevitable storm coming. Fortunately, I was able to finish dinner before it started.
