Secondhand book for sale at Hackescher Markt

A secondhand bookstore where I found all the long lost books at unbelievable price.

This is a nice bookshop off the main road into Springdale, Utah and Zion National Park. I enjoyed shopping here and both Brian and I bought a couple of books.

There are seven of these mahogany thingies so you can make a really big one.

Criminally cheap, next to nothing!

The packaging is great too :-)

Se Hanne, hvad synes du om den her?

An MBA was probably involved at some stage.

Alas, I didn't have either camera handy when I found this unexpected gaggle of dolls at Taber Furniture in North Sacramento, so I had to snap this with my I.Q.32 phone.

Maybe I'll revisit them soon with a real camera and get a crisper, clearer shot.

My beloved Arne Jacobsen chairs, also found at a local flea market. The lamp is an old Bumling and the table and clock is IKEA.

The painted singing (yawning?) lady one is one of the few things I have from my grandmother's house. The blue one was thrifted later.

Today was half price at my favorite thrift store.. got all this for 6 $

Such a cold day and my new winter coat that I have ordered is on a 2-4 week delivery! So instead I am keeping warm by layering. At least my new snood has turned up.

Snood - Next

Top - Next (many summers ago)

Jeggings - topshop

Grey ombre leopard pattern cardigan - George at Asda

BCBG denim jacket - swapped on posh-swaps.com

Boots - Whooga boots

Upstairs wallpapered and carpeted, and door handles changed.. There will be a partition wall between the stripes and floral wallpaper.. (I had a limited supply of scrapbooking papers, with max. two sheets of each pattern, so I had to use three patterns for the large room..)

A laurel made from secondhand sheets and lace.

Here in Benin, old lace tablecloth/curtains are used everywhere: hairnets, coverings for food so flies don’t come in, privacy curtains at doors and windows, and more.

What I enjoy more is buying the lace. In the US, we throw out things that are in perfectly good condition, but where do they actually go? One answer is Africa, where our unwanted stuff is resold in piles on the streets here. It’s fun to “thrift” for the fabric here and then make something out of materials originally destined for the trash.

I bought a lace sheet and a curtain sheet to line it with, however since the lace was already heavy this dress is very thick and more suited for winter. I finished the edges with bias tape facing & added pockets because they’re just too useful to leave out.

I wrote more in my sewing journal here: cathywu.com/journal/treadling/2013/04/14/secondhand-lace-...

Second-hand clothes shop in Metz

My favorite shop in Nagoya. Everything from Nintendo Famicom (NES) and Sega Master System up to Dreamcast, PS2 and XBox 360, including obscure crap like PC-Engine and FM Towns.

30x40 in.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my work.

All the Megabloks am gone.

Bought a beat up six string, in a secondhand store

Didn't know how to play it, but he knew for sure

That one guitar, felt good in his hands, didn't take long, to understand

Just one guitar, slung way down low

Was a one way ticket, only one way to go

So he started rockin', ain't never gonna stop

Gotta keep on rockin', someday gonna make it to the top

Paris has a number of English-language bookshops. Without wishing to belittle the useful service provided by W. H. Smith's branch in the Rue de Rivoli, much the most interesting is Shakespeare & Co., at 37 Rue de Bucherie, on the Left Bank, dead opposite Notre Dame. Its stock is secondhand. I believe the shop is owned by the family of Walt Whitman. The three books I bought on the day of this photograph, Friday 8th April 1994, were all stamped inside the front cover, "Sylvia Beech Whitman Foundation".
