I woke up really early to take this picture so that I could use the very first light of the day. Fortunately, the water wasn't absolutely as cold as I expected, but it was quite difficult to stand still, 'cause the water was dragging me and I stood with the candelabra and the fish tank trying not to get too wet. Plus, I'm not really a friend of being in the sea (neither swimming pools). But I achieved the image I wanted, wohoo!
Special thanks to Yguarina, a good friend of mine and photographer, who was human tripod and shutter for this image, and got really wet because of it... Sorry Ygua!

A sea of seashells
I must have walked past this scene a few dozen times. But until I slowed down, I didn’t really notice it.
P106-5745 Taken at: West End, St Monans, Fife
On close inspection, the shells looked worn and tumbled, but still full of interesting patterns and colors.
I like the pale whites of this shot; next photo is more colorful.
All the way from the beaches on the Gulf coast of sunny Florida - where else!!

"The little seashell"
A long, long time ago there was this little seashell that had a dream...she dreamed that one day she would reach those bright stars, far, far away in the sky. So,one day, she decided to come out of the water and go up those huge sand dunes....she rolled and rolled, and as she was almost at the very top, the nasty, strong and destructive wind blew her down those dunes...she was very disappointed and wanted to try again...but she was just too exhausted! So, over the next few years she kept trying and trying to reach those far and amazing stars but that strong wind would always send her back down...She was getting older and older and her dream was looking further away with each try...
One night,as she was lying in the water she heard voices...she did not know if they were real or if they were inside her head...but those beautiful voices were telling her to have another go at her dream and try again ...so, she decided that she would try one more time before she died. She started rolling and rolling up those dunes again and this time she had those voices with her cheering her all the way up...but ,like many times before that strong wind did not wanted her to reach the stars and was pushing that little seashell down again! And,as she was about to quit, those voices became lights...and just like arms, those lights picked up that little seashell and lifted her up the ground so she could stand tall against the wind!So she did!She gained strength and was holding the sand like she was holding her life...this time she decided that she would beat that wind and with the help of those arms of light she finally reached her dream...she touched the stars!!!!!!!She was happy!!!She was tired!!!Nothing else matters now....she could finally rest..As she went down those dunes and into the water, she was proud..she could held her head up!She was old...too old to mention, but her dream came true...Now,she rests in peace in the arms of light...in the arms of dreams...
I built myself a light box and had fun taking photos of my sea shelll collection in it, one shell at a time.

Il est de tradition à Tahiti pour les arrivées d'offrir des colliers ou couronnes de fleurs. Les partants reçoivent plutôt des couronnes de Coquillages à l'image de celles-ci. #Macro #MacroMondays #Necklace

What's interesting to me is not the fact that this is a beautiful collection of seashells found on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico in southwestern Florida... but the processing technique I tried on this image. I used Silver Efex Pro (a Photoshop plugin from the Google Nik Collection, which incidentally is free) to render the image in monochrome and then I changed the blending mode of the layer in Photoshop to Luminosity. The results look much sharper and more beautifully saturated.

The other side of Henley Jetty for this shot from yesterday and again no HDR on this. A very interesting sunset yesterday, didn't get one today due to the cloud. Looks like the sun might be out for the weekend. Will try and catch on others streams a little later on or tomorrow afternoon.

Seashell (Scala)
Take my hand and come walk with me
down towards the enchanting sea.
I'll run laughing across the sand.
You'll just smile 'cause you understand.
Watch the sun kiss the rising sea,
trembling sparkles of ecstasy.
Waves break, simmer, and then renew,
just as sometimes a heart can do.
I walked the full length of the beach until
I found the most beautiful seashell.
Fragments of all the things you've said
smile tenderly in my head.
Beaming sun is still trying to
burn the way that I burn for you.
Feel the waves as they fall and rise.
Breathe in deeply and close my eyes.
Let me not ever wake from this
precious moment of perfect bliss.
I walked the full length of the beach until
I found the most beautiful seashell.
Stay here with me
down by the sea.
For the others there on that beach
our heaven was out of reach.
They heard only the dolphins' cries.
We heard music and angels' sighs.
We gazed out to the horizon,
sea and sky melting into one.
Whispered line where the blue meets blue.
Just as vague as where I meet you.
In the wake of that golden day
memories still take my breath away.
I touched heaven when you touched me
down beside the enchanting sea.
I walked the full length of the beach until
I found the most beautiful seashell, for me.
Sunset glows.
Come with me.
One last race
to the sea.

I saw a land of milk and honey in your mind
Our flesh and blood has found me in your arms again
See the whisper of the wind has found your hair again
And though my heart said give me refuge in you dignity my dear
All I could do was put a seashell to your ear...

Breakage by Mary Oliver
"I go down to the edge of the sea.
How everything shines in the morning light!
The cusp of the whelk,
the broken cupboard of the clam,
the opened, blue mussels,
moon snails, pale pink and barnacle scarred—
and nothing at all whole or shut, but tattered, split,
dropped by the gulls onto the gray rocks and all the moisture gone.
It's like a schoolhouse
of little words,
thousands of words.
First you figure out what each one means by itself,
the jingle, the periwinkle, the scallop full of moonlight.
Then you begin, slowly, to read the whole story."
I made this last year. I love to collect driftwood, seashells, pebbles and pieces of glass on my walks along the waters edge. I live on an island.
Good morning. With it being a Saturday I thought I would add a new seashell to the "Seashells and other treasures from the deep blue sea" series, being this peppermint cone seashell. As with all my seashell pictures it was photographed using natural ambient light.
Take care...and I hope everyone has a great weekend.
