Another old shell that we brought back from Baja that I decided to exploit.
Lighting: In order to show the shapes I used side lighting because that creates the shadows that reveal shapes and textures. I placed a Yongnuo flash in a 24 inch soft box at the right side of the shell. The strobe was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N. The shell was pretty bleached out from sitting outside in the sun so I converted it to black and white using Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro 2.0.

Done 100% with Polychromos on smooth bristol board (8'' x 16'') :)
I picked up these shell fragments on the beaches for they reminded me of Native American basket patterns.
I have quite a collection, and I finally dug some out and took a photo in my studio (the front porch). HSS!
Texture is nuriel clouds by Flypaper.

From this side, has this À la recherche du temps perdu cookie vibe. A handful of these and some tea and you're going to be remembering all kinds of things. Most of which never happened, but that's what memory is all about.
