Seen briefly illuminated by a sliver of sun, Irving's 908 is heading east at Lake View, led by one of their new SD70M-2s. I haven't had much luck getting these, so when I saw this was leading 908, I stuck around after going off duty to grab a shot of them.
Temperatures plummeted well below freezing today, before the wind was even factored in. A mostly clear dome yielded some good results throughout the day, including this take here. Three out of the four Suzie Q M-2s and the heritage -2 cross the East Branch of the Delaware River at Hancock on the CNYK. This is the old Erie east of Binghamton that was shutdown for the last month or so for bridge repairs. This would be the first WB to cross this scenic stretch of railroad and we just happened to be out there when it ran.
We were extremely lucky to be in the area when this train was running. And I'm grateful for the all help we received with info and shot locations. For a guy who hadn't taken train photos more than 20-miles east of the IL-IN border, I certainly wouldn't have been able to do this solo.

Vermont Rail System is slowly getting more red lashups. Even as world famous the 431 is, it still doesn’t fit in and is a bummer to lead especially with fresh repaints, but as the Assistant Staff Photographer S. McGinnis says you gotta take what the clients want no matter how bad you want beep your horn. Here the Bennington job heads south with a decent train coming into East Dorset, VT. The arrival of five SD70M-2 locomotives in Greenville over the past several weeks appears to be ending the reign of standard cab power ruling the rails of the CN Bessemer Sub. Although several “noodles” have come and gone since CN purchased the Bessemer in 2004 this will be the first time corporate colors have been the majority paint scheme for road trains.

After leaving CP's Millinocket Sub at Eastern Maine Jct, 910 clears the bypass there, and shoves into Brownville Jct, allowing everything to line up for interchange, and the eastbound 908 later in the day. SD70M-2s 6403 and 6401 are keeping the sixty car train in check as they descend into BVJ, with the rear of the train already in cautionary limits. On a side note, I wonder what the deal is with the broom on top of the antenna array.
